I just bought galaxy nexus for a week (not rooted).
However, the wifi could not be used since last night.

When i tried to "on" the wifi, it appeared like as follows:

so i tried to download the apps "alogcat" to see what happened.
From the apps, it shows the wifi device could not be found (?)

Although similar questions might be asked before, I hope u guys can help me to fix this problem. Thank you very much!

Thank you.

Sorry, i cannot get the meaning of "battery pull". Can you explain more?

This is my first time to use smartphone. I know little knowledge about it. Sigh.

No problem, that's what we are here for. :)

I mean to physically remove the battery and leave it out for a minute or so. This action has been known to clear up a multitude of glitches on smartphones. Always give that a try first before considering more drastic measures.

i have tried this before but the problem cannot be fixed.

btw, I just guess that this problem is related to hardware (the wifi device is out of order). Is it possible?

Anything is possible but hopefully it is not a hardware issue. I would try a factory reset. If that does not fix the issue, you may be correct about the problem being hardware related, not a good thing.

As to your earlier question, you may retain some of your apps/data by going into the phone's settings, then the backup and reset menu and make sure "Back up my data" is selected. You may also wish to select the "Automatic Restore" option. I have had hit and miss success with all apps/settings being restored in this fashion honestly but in theory it should work. You may have to set up some items on the phone after the reset, namely system settings such as ringtone, notification choice, etc.

It can be a slight pain but it's not really too bad and the situation you are currently in is much worse I'd dare say. One more thing, make sure you don't have a market app installed who's purpose is to control & manage wi-fi settings. If that were the case, it COULD be an app related issue not allowing the wi-fi to function correctly. Just trying to cover all bases.

The thing that's troubling though is that even with a bad router, you should be able to turn on wifi in the phone's settings. It just wouldn't work on that particular network perhaps but it would scan for others in the process.

And, that MAC address in the advanced menu of wifi settings is your phone's MAC. Why wouldn't it be showing?

I even disabled my wifi and it still showed my MAC. At that time, IP was listed as unavailable which makes sense of course.

I have two Galaxy Nexus phones (being used for software development).
One of them can't be unlocked - it is never seen by fastboot.
In fact, ADB can't see it any more (it used to be seen).
The other one is fine.
The one I can unlock had working WiFi until a couple of days ago - now it just refuses to connect.
So it's not the router as one of the two phones can connect.
I've tried factory reset without joy.

Any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem. I am sure that it is hardware problem. I've even installed custom firmware(Paranoid Android) and no positive results.
