Well, I've been looking for a way to create folders. Touching and holding down the home screen is no help, and there's no convenient menu button with an option to do so.
I finally figured it out. Group all the apps you want to put in a folder together. When you want to create a folder, quickly swipe one app over the other. If you do this slowly, the app you hold will merely displace the app you're going to. So do it quickly. A circle appears with tiny icons of both apps. To add more apps, flick apps to the folder. To name the folder, tap it, and tap where it says unnamed folder. This will allow you to type the name you want on this new folder.
I created a folder by accident and couldn't figure out how to un-create it .
I thought I read that icons were supposed to shift around to make room when you re-positioned them, so I tried it, and wound up with a folder instead of having the existing icon move.

Just long click the icon you want to remove from the folder and move it out or move to the "remove" area up on top, just as you would do any of the icons on the home pages, etc...
You don't need to unlock your device to respond to notifications (assuming it isn't pin locked). Just swipe down the notification bar and tap the email (for example) and it will bring you right into the Gmail app.
Thank you for the video, but for me it was no good because it was done way too fast to teach this newbie about notifications. Perhaps you could try again more slowly?

Yes!!! Found that myself on first test drive before buying... that easy delete app feature is long overdue... settings: manage apps, was so much more cumbersome...

Another one I found is if you need to reboot to safe mode, hold the power button until the power off option is on screen. Touch and hold power off to see the option come up over top of the list with an explanation of what safe mode is
This is not so much Jellybean Trick and more to do with the Nexus..
For those who don't want to root or use a launcher, you can get the home screen to rotate to landscape using Ultimate Rotation Control. Sadly it will also rotate every app you have but you can fix that in the apps settings
