Root Boot Animation Gallery

I downloaded SDK to C:\android-sdk-windows and put the bootanimation.zip into the \tools folder, then then after connect phone to USB an enter adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/ ..... it tells me

"adb server is out of date. killing..."
* daemon started successfully *
539 KSs ,9791447 bytes in 17.718s>

any idea what thats all about?

that means it worked. reboot and check

ANOTHER QUESTION ABOUT ANIMATION SIZE. Does it install the bootanimation.zip to the internal space on the phone or is it put on the SD Card side, if I have 9mb animation i wana use, but I dont wana have to delete apps to fit it on there [so theres that 65mb of free space you need to reboot the phone properly without getting those force close errors]

and if it does [cuz i noticed my internal memory widget showing a big increase in mb useage] can i just find a new smaller animation and repeat steps to replace the previous one?]

They go onto the phone, so using a relatively small animation is usually a good idea. The complicated ones can be pretty slow and jerky on the Eris, anyway.

And yeah, you can replace an animation at any time, just by repeating the install process. The new file will overwrite the old.

Found another few but these are the biggest I've found, looks pretty good very high quality stuff.
"Red Rage" Boot Animation v0.5
YouTube - Red Rage Droid Boot Animation v0.3
Download: Here

Cyborg
If you are having trouble seeing the full boot EI you only see half screen or something go into the desc.txt and change this
Code:
480 854 210
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
to
Code:
320 480 210
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
so it resizes the boot to fit the eris screen.

I tested these on Eris just change the code above so it works perfectly on the eris.
whenever i try to change the size i just get a black screen. it's like the file isn't good anyone once I unzip it and compress it back to a zip file.

What you need to do is open the archive with winrar or whatever you are using. DO NOT EXTRACT IT. You can edit the file while it's still inside the archive.

As a side note, my lock screen no longer works after installing one of these custom boot screens. It shows up when I first boot up the phone, but when pressing the power key to sleep the phone, my lock screen never shows up.

Trying on my other computer and this time it is telling me DEVICE NOT FOUND. BUT I notice that when i plug in my Eris to USB i get FOUND NEW HARDWARE and its looking to install software/drivers for ADB, i have already installed the SDK and the HTC Sync as stated to in the directions....what do I do here? I have yellow "!" by ADB in Device Manager and also theres yellow question mark next to Unknown Device....suggestions? what should i do?

I'M STILL ON 1.5, COULD THIS ALSO PRESENT AN ISSUE?

Well i installed the driver from the usb_drivers folder in the SDK folder and the yellow "!" went away and now in the device manager I seen listed

ANDROID USB DEVICES
-My HTC

i assume thats what i want, so I tried the directions all over again and i got it telling me 543kb was transferred or whatever it says so i rebooted the phone and still am getting the verizon and little peeking android guy as boot animation.....I have unrooted 1.5, i dont understand where this is going wrong?

Thats your problem your compressing. what ever compression tool you're using look for a store option or no compression. Its not loading because you compressed them...

See i can't do that..all the boots don't use the same format, some use a part0 format and others do it by folders like android, vzw, and last.
Really depends on the preference of the boot maker.
Tell me which one it is and I'll fix it and upload it.

Are you talking about the "Red Rage" (shown in the video) or "Cyborg"? If you mean "Red Rage", it honestly looks crappy if you make that change because you can't read the "initializing" text. Here, I uploaded a cropped version of "Red Rage" instead:

bootanimation.zip

I think that the rage one looks great without modifying anything.....and why is yours like 5mb smaller than the original? did you modify the actual pngs?
And the reason I gave a quick fix of just changing the files to 320 X480 Because I knew people would find a way to mess their boot up..if you're willing to change all of them awesome but I'm just pointing people to original boots that they need to change, if they don't like them.

I tried that and and also tried a different boot animation file and it went though given me the same result [cept the file size was different] and when I booted i'm still getting the default verizon animation....

Yeah, it's smaller because I cropped it.

The Rage one looks great without modifying anything (leaving it at 480x854) because the phone is cropping each image to display it on our smaller screens. Alternatively, if you change the numbers to 320x480, it *shrinks* the images to fit, which actually looks worse.

By cropping each image to 320x480, it looks exactly the same as the original did, but it's using less CPU and has a smaller file size.
