Help [VZW] Texts don't always reach me or the recipient

Okay so, sometimes I text someone and I get a delivery notification if the person receives my text (only on Verizon).

However, multiple times a day (I text about 3-12 people per day) I'll have to resend a text because my phone never got the green-checkmark indicating that someone has received my text I sent.

Most people have smartphones but don't know what delivery notifications are. Thus they text me, and I don't receive the text - but they don't know because they don't have delivery notifications.

It's really bad. People are getting mad at me saying I don't answer or whatnot but I actually don't receive their texts. And it's really really annoying having to resend texts because people don't receive mine.

I have this problem with multiple people. And people who have phones from places like A T & T (or anywhere that isn't verizon) I have no way of knowing if they receive my text and they text me but I don't receive it.

Is this a problem with Verizon's SMS/Texting Service or is it my phone? I have a Galaxy Nexus LTE phone. I've been texting extremely frequently - more often than I ever have in my life and again texts fail to reach me and sometimes I send and it says I have sent the text but the recipient never gets it.

Hopefully someone can help me. Do I need a new Galaxy Nexus or can I call Verizon, argue, force them to give me an upgrade so I can get the Galaxy S III? I just want to have an android-smartphone that can be rooted and send and receive texts.

I'm willing to answer any questions or clarify any details.

Generally, delivery notifications only work when on the same network(i.e. VZW,sprint, att)

Are you rooted?
are you using the stock messenger program?
have you tried a factory reset?

I haven't had any issues at all txting.

I would try:
1. uninstalling any 3rd party txt'ing or notification programs.
2. REMOVE any battery "savers" like juice defender
3. REMOVE any battery "savers" like juice defender (they cause mucho problems)
4. return to "stock" unrooted
5. Factory reset and run a day or two "stock"

After that contact VZW, they won't really help you if your rooted and pretty much the first thing they'll suggest is a Factory reset.

edit: Another thought, just how many txts are you sending/receiving? I know some older versions or android had issues with storing thousands of txts (like 5k plus) but I "think" that no longer a issue. If you do a factory reset don't restore your txts (using something like smsbackup) for a day or two if your up in the multiple thousand txt range....

If you are on Verizon and sending texts to other Verizon customers and they are not being delivered, then you should contact Verizon to find out why. It should be easier for them to identify the problems with these texts. If you are sending texts to customers of other carriers and they aren't getting delivered it could be Verizon or it could be the other carrier. You can ask Verizon to investigate on their end. Same goes with texts you aren't getting. If you can tell verizon when they were sent and from what number, perhaps they can identify the problem. I don't think its a problem with your Nexus, possibly the SIM card or possibly with Verizon or your service.

Are you rooted?

Currently yes.

are you using the stock messenger program?

Tried both stock and Handcent - both have same problem.

have you tried a factory reset?

Yes.

The problem started after I got a new galaxy nexus because I dropped and broke mine.

I would try:
1. uninstalling any 3rd party txt'ing or notification programs.
2. REMOVE any battery "savers" like juice defender
3. REMOVE any battery "savers" like juice defender (they cause mucho problems)
4. return to "stock" unrooted
5. Factory reset and run a day or two "stock"

Have tried this all but noticed juice defender was on my phone even though I don't use it. I just uninstalled.

Good idea, I will try it.

Now that you mention it, a SIM card problem seems very plausible. I might call and have them send me a new one. I have never had this problem before until I had to get a new galaxy nexus / SIM card because I dropped my old galaxy nexus. The SIM card might be the problem.
