I wondered about that. I had ordered through the Office Depot Business Direct, and I have both here on my desk. Once I call customer service back to order another replacement there won't be any way they can pry my original from my hands until I have one that is acceptable. ;)

Oh well it cold be different with office depot. I was speaking about the Google play store. Good luck!

Has anyone noticed their screen lift getting worse over time?

And what about the ppl who've tried to fix the screen lift only to have it come back - has the lift continually gotten worse?

In the meantime I'm trying not to touch the left side of the screen....:(
I don't have the original receipt since I bought it off someone, so I can't send it back under warranty

Thanks buddy. I've got my "white tiger ninja death grip" on my first one. Still trying to determine when to initiate the second exchange.

I would be interested in this as well.

I had the raised/flexing/creaking screen, replaced it and got one that was even worse plus the power button was flakey, so I replaced it again. Third time's the charm, and kudos to Gamestop for letting me swap it twice (they were really friendly about it... didn't give me a hard time at all).

The quality control on these is lacking, apparently.

Mine has screen rise after only one day. I'm not too fussed at the moment. it is working fine, and is less than 1mm. I might contact google if it gets any worse. It certainly isn't affecting the screen itself.

But my question on this is, can his separation problem affect the sensitivity of the screen? It almost seems as if I have a dead spots in my touch screen.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

No dead spots, but in my case pushing on the squidgy bit of the bezel caused some phantom touches.

2nd unit is better but not perfect.

unfortunately, you are not going to be able to hold onto the original. They will ask for it back, you will have to keep the replacement.

That's not what happened to me. My replacement turned out to be a lot worse than my original. Obviously I didn't want to keep the replacement so I called up their support line and told them of the situation. They agreed to create a new RMA slip for me to replace the replacement, keep my original, and send in the replacement. If the new replacement is good, then I can send in my original.

I had a very mild case of screen separation on my n7. The glass wasn't above the bezel like it is for some, but it was flush with the bezel on the left, below the bezel on the right.

I tried the screw fix, it didn't fix it. The clamp method seems to have done the trick. I bought a big bag of various sized nylon spring clamps from walmart, for like $7.50.

I wrapped my n7 in a hand towel, and put 4 small clamps along the left side of the device. I heated the left side up with the wife's blow dryer for about 5 minutes, until it was very warm. I left the clamps on over night while I slept.

This was last night, so I'm reluctant to say it's permanently fixed, but so far today the screen has stayed down where it's supposed to be. The left and right hand sides are both just below the bezel. I'll keep an eye on it and report back if the issue rears its ugly head again.

Must say I'm pleased so far, screen feels solid. Why not try the clamp method, a lot of people are saying it worked for them when the other methods didn't. If it comes back I'll rma, no big deal. :D

Edit: while at walmart I looked at their nexus 7 display model. It had bad screen separation. Just thought that was funny.

Mine is in the middle of the left hand side. Very slight. I don't think I'd have noticed it but for me reading up on it and knowing what to look for. Not worth the effort of exchanging I'd say. Hope I don't regret not doing so!

Mine was the same. Left middle, very slight. As I said in my previous post, I did the clamp trick overnight while I slept. It's still perfect after a week. No more separation, not even slight.

Mine's now squishy on both sides.

2 questions.

Are the new one's any better yet?

I want to try the clamp thing for a day. Here in Phoenix it gets to 105 these days, so inside a car it may get close to 120. It there any danger of that being too hot and causing any damage? - I know not to turn it on until it's cooled down

Let me get this right, clamp screen (with protection) in heat, let cool off, then remove clamps?

Yup, that's it.

I've had two with a little screen separation. I'm debating on trying to return this second one to Walmart, but I'm not sure if they'll think I'm nuts. It is raised and is definitely squishy on the left side.

I've also debated on attempting the clamp fix. Not sure what I think about that, though.

2 weeks in, my n7 screen is still perfect now after the clamp trick. What will it hurt to try it out? If it works, awesome. If not, then you can take it back still

What exactly did you do to fix it?

I posted the method I used like 5 posts up, but I'll recap just for you :)

Wrap the nexus up in a hand towel so your clamps do not mark up the device. Put clamps along the side of the device that has the separation (left side). Heat up the side you put the clamps on with a blow dryer for 5 minutes. Leave the clamps on overnight while you sleep. When you take the clamps off and unwrap it, tada screen fixed. I'm going on 2 weeks, screen is still perfect.

The clamps I used are made of a plastic type of material (nylon). I bought a 16 count pack from Walmart for 7.50. It has like 5 different sizes, I used medium-small sized.

There are people that have used clothes pins, but it requires more, 8 or so pins, to be able to apply the pressure needed. I'd think potato chip clips may work also if you have enough and they give a decent amount of pressure. I would recommend actual clamps though. I'll post a pic of the ones I used.

I used the medium sized clamps (second row).

I put my wallet in the picture so you can get a feel for the actual size of the clamps. Good luck!

Well it seems to me that I am in the same boat right now guessing clamping down the screen with a towel could not hurt except if I am not careful enough and cracks the screen. I tried the screws and didn't work tried to get a replacement which had the screen separation issue worse than mine 2 times so now I am ready to try this. I think in a few minutes I will be going out to get me a blender (trying live a healthier life style) and will also stop by walmart and grab a bunch of clamps and see what I can do about it.
