Jelly Bean confirmed for Galaxy S II.

Gawd, am I glad I'm still running Gingerbread. My SII (and my wife's) are as good as the day we got them -- still fast, responsive, and everything works.

It wasn't broke, I didn't "fix" it.

We'll see how Jelly Bean is.

Same here - 2.3.4 and no interest in moving up until it's solid.

I do have JB on a Nexus 7 - good experience so far. But I expect Samsung/AT&T to goof it up somehow with their customization.

Wish I could go back to 2.3.4. Do you think ATT will even release 4.1.1 on the sgs2? I know its coming for the international version for sure.

Many people having problems with 4.0.3 are experiencing conflicts with incompatible stuff remaining from Gingerbread. Before giving up on it you should try the following:

Taken right from the user manual:
To enter the Android System Recovery mode, follow these steps:
  1. With the phone turned off, press the Power key and Volume Up/Down keys at the same time until the phone switches on.
  2. Once the SAMSUNG logo appears, release the Power key while continuing to press the Volume Up/Down keys.
  3. Continue to press the Volume Up/Down keys for at least 8 seconds, until Recovery mode is launched and the Android System Recovery screen is displayed.
  4. Release the Volume Up/Down keys.
  5. The following options are available:
    • reboot system now: this option turns on your phone.
    • apply update from sdcard: this option allows you to apply updates from your memory card to your phone.
    • wipe data/factory reset: deletes all data from the phone except pictures and videos. For more information, refer to

I'm so glad I rooted. GB was very good overall, but the whole wifi/battery life issue really got to me. ICS 4.0.3 is just junk. Was considerably slower also.

Rooted and tried ICS Serindiptiy 9.4 and a huge speed boost. Problem was my Bluetooth to car the contacts weren't coming over.

Last night installed AOKP JB 8/28 and everything seems to be working fine. Super fast too. I had my wifi turned off and over 8hrs last night the battery only drained 7%. This is the way the phone should run.

Wifi battery drain has been a major annoyance since day 1. Mine was on GB stock, GB UnNamed and is now on ICS SHOstock2, but this issue has never been fixed. I have no complaints about battery life once it's off of it.
