Coolest feature you've found?

I like when really geeky programmers/developers, especially when part of a large company, show that they have a sense of humor.

I got a kick out of that little Easter Egg.

I am one of those programmers\developers - actual title is Software Engineer but I for the life of me don't know how they have time to sneak Easter Eggs in? I must be doing something wrong.. LOL

I love finding them as well though. A while ago I came across a list of websites that had Easter Eggs hidden in them. There were hundreds!! Some of them very cool. One had an entire game hidden inside it.

I don't know whether we have different versions of the camera app (I have the International S3), but I just pressed the cog icon to get into settings. Scroll the menu down and on my phone it is the third setting from the bottom.

It is definitely not in that location on the AT&T S3. It might be somewhere, but I've yet to find it.

Wow... Great thread! Thank you all for the great tips! I've had my S3 only a few days and love it! I've just spent the past 3 hours reading and trying so many of these features. However I can't get my music to play on my tv. I have a Samsung plasma. I have Dlna set to share. I get pix to show on tv and I can access the phone's pix from the tv, but no luck when using google play music app? Theres no tv icon on the music app. Any ideas?

Only a few apps at the moment seem to support transferring the images/music/videos to a tv. Google play music is not one of them (Yet i hope). The standard music player, video player and gallery app all will. SOme others too but think it has to be added. Will be awhile before we see more of this i think.

I just discovered the briefing setting in the alarm clock. It plays your alarm ringtone for a few seconds and then computer reads the current time, current weather and the day's forecast, any appointments you have that day, and the top news headline. Reminds me of the first Iron Man movie when JARVIS pops online in the morning to tell Tony the time and current surfing conditions. :p

How do you set this up. I can't figure out how to do it.

Same thing happened to me with the music player. I had my mp3s playing on shuffle and there's one song that has a verse that ends with the word "Next" and is followed by a brief pause. My phone won't play the rest of that song with voice commands active because it always jumps to the next song. I tried it 3 times in a row, and it did the same thing every time. I actually gave up on that feature and turned it off, but it's still a pretty cool feature. I love using voice commands for other basic functions like the alarm clock. Off!

Yesterday while the phone was charging with the Camera app on, a photo was taken triggered by something said on the TV. Not sure what the trigger word was but I got a good laugh.

Hmm, my music switched to another song several times today. I thought there was a bug in the player. Now I need to check this, if I can remember the songs that it happened to. :p

A few tips that you may already know;

-Place a finger on the lock screen and turn the device to landscape for a shortcut to the camera.

-When viewing a text or contact and need to call that person just hold the phone up to your ear.

That's my .02. Hopefully I'll have more to come.

1. when i place a finger on the lock screen and turn device to landscape, i get the screen to unlock the phone (i setup for pin unlock), it never goes to the camera
** update...when you have lock screen enable, you need to unlock the screen before it goes
into the camera app
2. when viewing a contact, holding phone to the ear does not call that person for me.
** update...you need to go into settings->motion to enable direct call.
it would be helpful if you also include that info when suggesting a feature

what am i missing ???

The headphone comes with the phone sounds amazing. I like it I can adjust volume as well. I tested it the play button, press one time to play and pause. Double press will skip to the next track in the Music player app.

I use PowerAmp instead. With PowerAmp, I can do double press to skip to next track. Triple press to go back to previous track.

Now I don't have to reach my pocket to change track or adjust volume. Loving it.

this is interesting, i was not able to adjust the volume with the headphone. how do you do that?

are you also saying with the stock music player, you can ONLY skip forward by double pressing but you can not go back to previous track??

hmm...i can't seem to make it zoom in or out. can anyone do this using his suggestion?

I might be wrong, but I think it was a joke - as you move the phone further away the picture gets smaller because it's further away, zooms in when it's nearer.

There is a feature that zooms in and out with you fingers on the picture but it works by tilting the phone towards you or away from you.

If it isn't working you need to have motion turned on in settings.

Settings > Motion
check the Motion Activation at the top of the menu; toggle the Tilt to Zoom option further down.
