Ok, so only two problems. Problem one: In my task manager, I have so many apps running that I have not even opened, like mail, or personalize, or voice communication, or car. I have pushed stop all to stop them all from running so the phone can be faster. But they just come back. I also heard just to leave it..? And if that is the case, is pushing stop all really bad for the phone? Or will it be ok?

Problem 2: When I setup my facebook, it syncs ALL 500 friends of mine onto my phone, I do not want that. I have chosen not to sync them at all from facebook, and as well as only sync with facebook with existing contacts you have in phone. But yet it still does ALL 500 friends of mine on facebook.

PS (What is the car app?)

THANKS FOR ANY HELP! MUCH NEEDED!

I can't answer the facebook question but i chose not to sync everything within the phone as in "Accounts and Sync".

My battery life is rubbish, I think that is just the way it is. I tried closing all things in the file manager and they just reopen, for example the feature when you travel around and the weather changes on your homescreen with the location I think is great but it obviously requires lots of apps to run in navigation. I now just keep everything running and I think that's what is suppossed to happen.

Stick with it - it's great.

Leave the task manager alone, let it do its thing. Its not gonna harm it by hitting stop but then the phone will have to reload everything again. The facebook issue I had as well. Make sure in the facebook app that in its settings at the bottom you check do not sync, and then in the settings of your phone under sync uncheck facebook. Im a total noob to android too, but dont worry its pretty easy to pick up. Took me about a week to be comfortable with it coming from iphone. Car app is just a cool way to have your stuff displayed if you were to have a car dock, its easy to read and has useful things easily accessible.

Yea just leave both alone because lets say you close maps, then you open facebook or something that can use location data. Your phone now has to re-open the maps process and start over so it might take longer or technically use more power (reload) to do the same task. I dont really know how it works, this is how I think it works from reading around. Im sure Presidente or one of the more experienced people will correct me if im wrong.

This matches my understanding as well. Let android do its thing - you can't manage apps as well manually as android does automatically.

Alright vtec thank you. So it will use more power to reload, but only that one time to get it going again then it will be back to normal right? And for going to the apps in settings and going to "running" and clicking stop on maps, that's pretty much the same as clocking close in task manager right? It did say that may cause problems until a phone restart, and I did restart it so o should be fine. Sorry for all the questions, just my new baby that I have no clue about haha.

If your'e worried about those things consuming battery, look at the actual battery manager and see what's consuming power. It might put your mind at ease about all of those background apps to see that they're only taking up 1% of your battery life.

I've been using Tasker to turn off unnecessary peripherals when I don't need them (GPS, bluetooth, WiFi), seems to have helped my battery a lot.

Questions are always a good thing when it comes to new phones, luckily, if you have not rooted your phone, you really cant mess anything on android up. As far as the battery life is concerned, I went all weekend with moderately high use with out a charge. I just got the phone on friday BUT it is not my first android by any means. Been with it since day one.

Big thing to remember, there are always ways of conserving battery if you have an issue with it. If you dont use WiFi, turn it off, same with blue tooth and GPS. I suggest putting the build in power widget on one of your home screens and use that to toggle what you need, when you need it. Turn down the brightness, and turn off auto sync unless that is something that you need as well.

Best wishes with the new phone and ALWAYS ask if you are unsure!

Thanks everyone, you are all patient and willing to help. Everybody treats there new phone like a baby for the first two weeks haha. And I am not so worried about battery life, was just woried by clicking cancel in task manger or stop in the running apps setting would ruin an app or some set up. But I restarted my phone and that propbably resets everything to normal again. I have left everything, not even worrying about task manger anymore. Like you all say, let android do its thing, it is obviously doing oit for a reason and I am prety sure android would not want you to stress by always closing apps.

One more question, what is rooting? Haha.

Thanks a lot everyone, big help.
