Broken Mic after ICS update?

I have an LG Nitro. I just got the ICS update and it worked for a bit. The past week or so though, my mic goes off and on with working. I'll be talking and then all of a sidden it will cut out and the person on the other end can't hear me. I also can't use my voice activated stuff.

I called ATT's warranty number (just got the phone in May) but since I dropped int once the very first day I got it, and cracked the camera lens, they won't fix it under warranty. I tried explaining that it's worked fine up until now, and definitely isn't from dropping it that day MONTHS ago, but they said no way.

Has anyone had this happen? Is there a way to fix it? I have factory reset it 3 times now hoping it would help. I've used a can of air to try and clean out the mic.

My friend says it gets staticy, but my hubby says it just goes dead. I have read that some virus apps can mess with your mic/mute setting, but I thought a FR would have fixed that. Unless it's somehow on my memory card?

waaaaayyyy after. It just started like 2 weeks ago. I dropped the phone back in May, like the 2nd day I had it. Never had a problem, it still even takes great pictures with a cracked camera lens and it's never dropped a call or did any of this until after I updated to ICS on August 1st.
