Help Tablet randomly shuts off and won't reboot.

ok, so my Nexus7, 4th one and finally with no screen lift, is crapping out on me today. Was talking to a buddy and flipping through magazines and it went black. would not power on. plugged it in to my computer thinking maybe the battery died, although i saw 19% on the screen.

i got the battery charging screen, so i powered it on. it worked for about a minute. then, black but with what appeared to be random active pixels, then nothing again. :(

anyone have any ideas?
it's stock.

I dunno. I'm getting the black screen of death at least once a day. I'm on AOKP build 1 and the latest trinity kernel. So I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I unlocked and put a ROM on it straight out the box.
I'll press the power button a few times, no response. Hold the power button, no response. Hold power and volume, no response. Plug it in, starts charging, powers up, battery still has plenty of juice.

It will turn on when plugged in but shuts off shortly after removing charging cable.
Sounds like it might be overheating?
Nah, was only powered on for a few minutes and was in an air conditioned office all day.

See, mine will stay on after I plug it in and boot up. As soon as it boots, I unplug it and it's all good

Strange. Mine's, seemingly, working fine at he moment. Should I still accept a replacement? I'm worried about getting another new one with screen separation, like my first 3.

I mean, while it's a nuisance, it's not enough for me to send it back. And if it's working fine for you now, I'd say keep it.
I'm not sure if my issue is something hardware or ROM/kernel related.

I was thinking that, but this morning it will not power up again. It's too unpredictable.

I'm not willing tho have to go through a bizarre ritual of plugging in and powering up then unplugging to be able to use it.

ok, so after getting a replacement (my 5th! good lawd!) it has screen separation. The one that wouldn't reboot, now, has been operating normally.

should i keep it since i have the ability to replace it for a year through google play? I've read in plenty of places that folks have had this issue on the first charge cycle, and it has not returned.

what do you guys think?
