Not for Nothin, but ASUS should make the next Nexus!

I agree. I personally do not have a nexus 7, but I used my friends, and wow...it felt....WOW. Really outstanding build quality. I definitely would not have a problem with them making the next nexus. Samsung is....eh...Samsung just feels cheap. But I'm fairly certain that the next nexus device will be motorola. Google already bought the company, and its the only big player left to experiment on. But hey that's ok, while the design of Motorola phones is a bit ugly, they atleast make solid, durable and well working phones.

+1,
I am equally curious to see what google has planned with motorola, Motorola has great success on my network Verizon but when you look at other networks they have a hard time selling and I do not know why because I thought the Atrix/Atrix2 and the Photon were sharp good quality phones.

When it comes to computers (PC or laptop) Asus is very low end (aka poor man's brand). If you want a throw away PC or lappy or one that the kids can run into the ground, get one with Asus components.

Eh, I disagree. Asus has never done me wrong on either the motherboard I have or a laptop (despite the fact that it was cheap). You might be confusing that with Acer.

HP laptops are by far, one of the worst though.

Asus I believe is still rated number one in quality and does not surprise me being that I am a member of a computer forum and almost never see people asking about issues with Asus, but the amount of acer, dell and hp hardware issues I see is crazy.

I just bought a Asus TF300 a little over a month ago and this thing is far even superior to even my vaio laptop. When I was in best buy picking a tablet to buy the screen quality, options and performance was unmatched to the TF300 for the money plus it was nice how Asus had already released the Jelly Bean update.

I'm a gamer, and I built my own rig. I spent over two years volunteering on the Wow tech support forums helping others with computer issues. Asus is low end. Always has been.

See that's the thing. I find it ironic, because I've heard nothing but good things about Asus, and have had good experiences with their products. I won't say that they are top notch when it comes to every product they make, but they certainly can't be the worst.

Asus is one of the more trusted brands when it comes to motherboards. Consequently, they're also one of the most popular and most common. Last I checked, I believe they hold 40% share of the motherboard market. It's only natural that you'll see more complaints against ASUS boards simply because there's just more of them out in wild. If there were 10,000 complaints against ASUS boards and 1,000 against EVGA boards and if ASUS and EVGA sold 1,000,000 and 50,000 motherboards respectively, which would you consider more reliable?

to be fair, HP sells from extremely low end all the way to high end, and they are the biggest manufacturer of laptops in the world, so its natural they have a lot of complaints. I've always had HP higher end laptops and had no problems with them that can be traced to manufacturer end.

Well I believe the statistics I have read over a wow message board user. Not to mention we are mainly talking tablets and in reviews I have read on samung tablets and in my own use honestly Asus is the only one who gets it right.

You believe in stats (because we all know everything you read on the net is true), I believe in hands on experience. ;)

This is why you have to be smarter then the average person and only trusted legit websites, I have much hands on experience in dealing with different brands, and there faults during several deployments in the military me and a buddy were the guys to come to get a computer fixed and for those interested in getting there first taste in Linux Asus has never been a problem brand, as I said before though hp, dell and gateway on the other hand always problems in either the poorly made drivers or when it came to hardware failing which was not to much of a problem being we would stop in a country were most of these low end machines were built so hardware was easy to come by.

Fair enough, because it is true. Then again, you can't forget about the giant Foxconn which makes parts for pretty much every electronics company on the damn planet. Both my Asus and intel motherboards have parts from them.

Yea finding a modern electronic device with out at least 1 foxconn product in it would be in almost impossible task.

Whats really bad is Foxconn is easily one of the worse company's in the world hands down. There so bad they installed suicide nets around there buildings because of workers.

Foxconn suicides - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I really wonder how the Apple people of the world would take it if they knew one of the company's supplying "Wonderful Apple" had a rash of suicides.

I have an even better proposal:

Why doesn't Google invite more than one manufacturer to make a phone that utilizes the Nexus moniker? Even better, schedule the announcement and release of 5 Nexus phones from 5 different manufacturers so that the announcement coincides with Android's 5th birthday.

We then get left with more choices and options. Google should compel manufacturers to agree to provide timely updates, exclude bloatware, and exercise some quality control to sure the Nexus brand cachet doesn't get ruined by some lone manufacturer who decides to abuse the brand just to push more sales of cheaply made products.

Push that even further 5 models each for a different price range and a few different styles.

I could already see the marketing now for this one. Imply Apple Iphone is like a McDonald hamburger. Any way you want it as long as its exactly as McDonald tell you u want it, VS the Google Nexus which is made to order with all kinds of options.

Plus could you see the out rage by apple if there phones where compared to cheapo fast food.

Asus hasn't made many Android phones. I would be reluctant to buy an Asus Android phone until it's proven that they can make cellphone radios for GSM, CDMA, and data radios (LTE in particular). A bad cellphone radio can break a phone quickly. I don't think it's Asus' time for a phone.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer Asus for a lot of things. My Asus Infinity is working solid, if the screen isn't just a bit too glossy for my tastes.

I thought that, even before the acquisition by Google, that Moto would have the next Nexus. Considering the reviews of the Razr/MAXX HD, I'm more convinced. I didn't see a lot of the device in action, but it looks rather blur-less and pretty close to vanilla Android already.

I wouldn't buy a Nexus 7 for the same reason I won't buy an Apple product. I don't do Asus.
Me neither. I remember when they and Acer made motherboards only, which I can imagine to be fairly straightforward once you had the assembly line process down. But I would never trust their quality ethics in PCs
So to all the naysayers...we all have to remember that even the BIG players have they're share of issues...

Hardware is hardware...its really the luck of the draw these days...[/QUOTE]
That's the problem these days. Back in the days big players like Sony were big because they delivered consistently quality screens that had to live up to Japanese standards. Now you have a Korean company that is big only because of its perceived quality, while its standards are really low (passable by Korean standards).

Hardware is hardware...its really the luck of the draw these days...
Hardware is hardware, except when screens get involved. Asus may have been a perfectly fine motherboard maker, but once they started making laptops and tablets, they're competing with companies who have long established reputations to protect and high standards of consistent quality to meet, something I don't trust Taiwanese companies with, unless you're HTC, who've made hardware with screens for decades, and have proven to be the exception with consistent quality.
