What would it take to get you to upgrade to the new Nexus?

I'd upgrade for a qualcomm s4 pro SoC and 2GB of ram, but would also greatly appreciate a 5" screen, and cutting out the pentile aspect of the screen, plus a better camera is a must.

Right now considering replacing my cdma gnex with a motorola razr until the razr maxx hd comes out though, since I have had some signal issues. Just need to determine if it was due to the signal being weaker than I am used to, or if it was really just an overloaded network on 4g lte.

It's nice to have a spare battery and the option of switching it out though. I'm really hating these phones going to their unibody/enclosed design. Function > form.

There is, as always, two sides to this. Yes, by carrying a spare battery you can double your available battery life.

But by building enclosed batteries it's possible to have a non-rectangular battery that squeezes into any available gaps in the internals of the phone. It also needs a thinner protective layer as no one will be taking it out and exposing it to potential damage.

So the advantage to non-removable isn't as simple as form over function. You get the function in the form of increased battery life (10-15%, depending on how much space is made available by the aspects I mentioned).

Since *most* people probably don't carry spare batteries and swap them out / go through the hassle of keeping them both charged up, removable batteries are probably the compromise option for the majority of users whose patterns of use would be better matched to the non-removable paradigm.

Gnex battery life on 4G is not so great. I can barely get 10~11 hours if used minimally. And it takes rapid dive if I really use 4G data with video, big downloading. But if I turn off LTE, it easily lasts 2.5~3X longer. So no need to disable mobile data to keep it going. 3G is enough for emails, SNS, etc. And using WiFi will help a lot too.

Wifi helps a ton. After 13 hours yesterday, still at 67%.

Not many phones with non-serviceable batteries take advantage of that, other than the Razr Maxx. I think the main thing is choice. I will probably never use an extended battery, or even buy a spare. But it's nice to know I could if I needed to.

I'd like to see the screen size remain the same and keep the soft buttons, although a thinner bezel would be nice if possible (not that the current one is huge).

I'd also like to see better battery life and perhaps conductive charging (aka the Nokia 920). A better camera is a must, I'm talking quality not size, not too fussed about the meaningless megapixel value.

The GNex is a pretty awesome phone, not sure how I'm going to justify an upgrade to myself, although I will find a way.

uh, the button to click to purchase it :) Only thing that might stop me, is if they go to large on the screen, I find the 4.65" Nexus just right, I wouldn't even mind if it dropped down to 4.5". But 4.8" is bordering too big, and 5" is over the top for me.

Ahh the perfect thread to make a comeback! haha! I haven't been around since the end of the Pre-Release thread on the Nexus last december!

I missed the thrill of posting everyday all day with everyone waiting for our damn Nexi to come out! Can't wait until the next Nexus' pre-release thread goes live :D

Hmm so for the next Nexus - screen needs to be sharper (no more pentile!), size is fine, bigger battery, better camera and better build quality (Moto please?).

Although the 1080p HTC phone is intriguing...Our account has an open upgrade so I'm just waiting patiently. Can't believe we've had our Nexi for almost a year already!!

It seems the number 1 request would be the bigger battery!!! +1 for that! I had the Maxx and believe me...it makes a huge difference. I like the Nexus. I think:
1- A 3000 or more mAH battery
2- A better camera (lense/hardware quality, not necessarily more pixels, although 14mp would be nice and xenon flash)
3- Latest LTE radios
I think those things alone would make the Nexus incredibly awesome!
We'll see...it might just be an incremental change (given all new phones out there from Moto, HTC, and the S3, it'll be hard to top all the specs out there).

Whoa whoa whoa, slow down there speed racer! Lets work on the actually improving sensor quality first before get ourselves into a MP race. ;)

But yeah a better battery would be highly welcome. And either making 32 GB or higher the standard built in memory AND|OR bringing back SD cards.
