Root OH CRAP I SCREWED MY PHONE UP!!! recovery guide.

things that dont work:
battery in/out hold vol down button connect usb
battery in/out hold power button connect usb
new cable, 4 usb ports

Have you tried battery in, vol down and power, without connecting to usb port? Imctrying to figure out why it wont get into download mode. For that matter, why you aren't just getting cricket screen on normal power up. Especially since params.ifs, boot, SBL and recovery all flashed. The only thing you are missing is kernel, the rom and modem. And all of those can be flashed separately. If you try to power up normally, do you get samsung screen then it goes straight to recovery?

Does anyone have a working download location for the file from the OP: SCH-I400-EC07-FROYO-REL-PRODUCTION.tar.md5 ? I've bricked my Continuum pretty solid. I can get into CWM and apply an EC07 ROM, but after clearing caches, it still only boots into Samsung recovery and displays a number of error messages. I think I toasted something with PIT files in Odin...my issue to sort out now. I was thinking this "OH CRAP" procedure would be a winner, but I can't get one of the needed files. I've Googled the file, and no luck. Anyone here have a copy that they can link to?

Thanks in advance.

I am in the process of uploading my files to a different server. I'll have it back up tomorrow, hopefully. Is this converter, from IRC?

This shows my newbie-ism. I had downloaded this yesterday, but since it was a ZIP file, I assumed it was a ready-to-flash ROM. Now, I know that it's a "real" ZIP and if it's extracted, it gives a stock Froyo ROM (tar.md5) flash-able via Odin which recovers your Continuum from the depths of brick hell.

Correct. I take it you are back up?

Yup. Got a nice stock Froyo ROM running. I will work on getting a stripped edition on next week. I need the phone to be functional for work this week!

Good. What you are on now, is a leak. We've got the actual verizon ota out, now. Here in the next day or so, (after I get all my files on the new server), I'll have tuts up for getting on that. I should have them up before the end of the week for ya.

Hi, please can you help me? I just root my galaxy mini 2 days ago and install all kind of root application. When i update Superuser (where it type 'tap to update') after it finish updating it shows 'was it cool?try it again' then it crashed. I tried recovery mode/remove the battery, sim,SD card and press volume down + home +power but nothing happen. I tried this guide but it did not get beyond 'setup connection' because i can't get to download mode.

First off, this guide is for a Continuum. Your phone is different, and you should be using a guide for it. Just because they are both samsungs, doesn't mean the software is interchangeable. Be thankful that you didn't get into download mode and manage to flash this. There would have been about a 99% chance that you would have a paperweight.

That being said, if the superuser app crashed after update, that shouldn't have softbricked you in any way. Superuser is an app. Nothing more. It's akin to a firewall on your computer. But it crashing should have little to no effect on the rest of your phone.
If your entire phone crashed after the update, and wouldn't reboot, then there is something else going on. I would suggest, first off, to get on your forum and talk to your dev's. I might be able to give you some general advice. But, I'm by no means an expert on your phone, and I don't really feel comfortable giving you specific flashing instructions without doing a good bit of research, first. Your dev's are there, they know what they are doing already, and are far more qualified to help you with your phone.
If you can't get any of your developers to help you, let me know, and I will try to do what I can. But, I doubt it will be much, if you are truly bricked.

Hi

Appreciate a coherent post.

Please, make it better.
Add valid current download links. Please, referring to other sites, do not just say "download it from there" as what exactly it is? xda devs has different pgm names and a bunch of programs for continuum, only them knowing what's what, as there is no guide.
Thank you

anyone has this file for download? only broken links:

Samsung_I500_VZW_PIT.pit

http://db.tt/5hGqYqoB

There is the link. I didn't think anyone was still using this guide. Let me know which other files you need, immediately. I'll update links and look at instructions this evening. If you need something else now, let me know, and I'll post it

thanks, tx

here's nature of issue:
ok, let me re-phrase my question

1. Continuum started acting up

2. I wanted to do backup and wipe/factory reset
3. I was naive enough to download Quick Boot and install it; as a result, it will boot into recovery, but does not respond to power button; as a result, the only way to get out of recovery was to Odin it
4. I factory restored phone, but can not do 2 things:

- can not find valid link for PIT file download (is it necessary?)

- can not install anything from recovery, as power button still does not work in recovery mode

5. as a result, I had it Odined one more time and, at this point, I am not experimenting with it anymore, as it's wife's phone, and you know how that goes.

I need help here:

1. I need help installing CWM recovery via Odin

2. Can I root phone via Odin also?

Please, if you post links, make sure they are valid, as most links I found so far are broken or lead to sales sites.

Thank you

As a result, I tried most guides available - all links are broken; phone locks in recovery; I can not root it, as it needs to be done via recovery - and it locks in recovery. mad circle.
Also this here:

SuperOneClick v2.1.1

is some malware;

I hit brick wall...

Ok. Here is the link to recovery (odin)
http://ubuntuone.com/02YXcAMWNUSasrSsjgUeKk

Stock ec09(odin)
http://ubuntuone.com/6rdDjiMOg45U8YHK3Oo9uW

Pit file(odin)
http://ubuntuone.com/2qtwgyRGYPLK10N2u5fN1J

Ec09 deodexed, rooted (recovery)
http://ubuntuone.com/3qamjuePP9HeY9R8oXZea4

1. Flash stock ec09 in odin (pda section), with pit (this will wipe)
2. After phone reboots, place ec09 deodexed on sdcard, then reboot into download mode.
3. Flash recovery in odin (pda section) no pit, and auto reboot unchecked
4. After you get "pass" and "rqt closed" in dialog box, unplug.
5. Pull battery, replace, and boot into recovery.
6. Nandroid backup, then flash ec09 deodexed.
7. Wipe dalvik and cache
Reboot.
If you have any questions, let me know, and I'll message you my phone number, if you have another phone to call me on.
