Root Is this for real? ICS for Spectrum!

It's my understanding the roll outs aren't geographic, but are based on the device ESN/MEID. My wife got her Razr update well after others in Seattle got theirs... it's annoying because they don't do it in a day or two, but in weeks. It took me 2 months to get my GB update for my old Droid 2, where others had it already, because I had a new replacement and theirs were older.

I called up vzw today and Tyler the tech who answered told me that ICS for the LG spectrum has already started being pushed out from vzw. I asked how long it would be before all owners would receive the update. He estimated between 2 weeks and a month depending on how many phones were out there. So anyone received there update yet or can anybody else confirm this guy wasn't smoking something while he was at work?

Well I just got off of an hour cpnversation with tech support looking through various files in vzw and there was no information on the ICS update foe spectrum. Tyler must have been hanging out with Mary Jane as I suspected.....no ics on the horizon at all although she did mention her level of authority to browse files was limited.

Very frustrating to see this...Ill be looking for a phone replacement or another carrier by the end of this month.

My appologies for vzw misinformation. I guess tech support isn't much better than calling India.

MY 2 cents.

If you buy a phone, do not EXPECT updates from the carriers, if you grab a cheap phone like the spec and get an update awesome. But ever since my first android device I see this happen year in and year out with people clamoring to get the latest OS on their devices. Fact of the matter is - your phone shipped with a certain OS running - it was built for said OS, and NO ONE HAS OFFICIALLY STATED IT WOULD GET UPDATED.

Sorry to burst peoples bubbles but if you want regular updates:
1) Never buy an LG phone this happens with ALL of them
2) Buy a nexus device because it will always have a rockin' dev community behind it
3)DONT BUY LG
4)Even if your broke - DONT BUY LG

LG makes decent cheap phones. But they have NEVER been prompt with updates

They have to release it, or they must replace my phone if I choose so. In their sales papers it explicitly said that is will be upgradable to Android 4 ICS blah blah, so yes, yes they did OFFICIALLY state it will be updated. And not only on those papers. That is blatantly false advertisement.

Really, all I have heard people say is that they have been TOLD it is forthcoming, and being told by some jackass making minimum wage is FAR FAR different than a press release or any other official statements from LG or VZW

EDIT please point out to me where it says its upgradable, im getting old and my eyes arnt as good as they used to be

LOL. I like your 4 suggestions! Ya I find it funny how people are talking about getting LG's next device already. As far as I'm concerned I'm so done with LG phones, and will never purchase another one regardless of the price or whatever the case may be. I am honestly tempted to dump mine and get a used device instead.
