well after trying many different roms, i was actually able to install energyrom somehow. i have installed many other roms without any issues before. i had cm9 but didnt like having to charge my phone 3 times a day even when not using it much. so i decided to install another and had all kinds of trouble, untill i tried enerygrom. but anyway its working FOR NOW.

Strange my phone is S-on and that rom flashes for me.

if he is s-on,then the kernel is not being properly flashed. if he was on cm9,the kernels are not compatible.

damon7620 either properly flashed the kernel using other means, fastboot booted his recovery, ir was just lucky that the rom was compatible with his stock kernel.

markbehr,if you are going to flash roms using htcdev unlock vs being s-off,youll need to understand it has its limitations,if youre not allready aware of them. this link should help: http://androidforums.com/rezound-all-things-root/587430-s-want-flash-roms-read.html

holler if you have any questions on it :)

glad you are up and runing. we can help you understand how to flash roms,so they are not hit or miss,or you can go thru the procedure to turn your secure flag off,so you can superCID,and rom flashing will become much, much more enjoyable. Unlimited.IO the "wire trick" sounds a lil crazy, but its not terribly difficult and well worth the efforts to do.

Well that might not be the issue, he probably hasn't supercided.

superCID doesnt really have anything to do with rom flashing in recovery,it just prevents you from installing other reginal firmware or full RUUs. as long as he is attempting to flash ICS roms, with some variation of ICS firmware(im on t mobile firmware at the moment) he should be able to flash roms. methinks its more of a kernel issue, assuming he did full wipes prior to his installs.

if he is htcdev unlocked,he cant change the firmware, wich is a big plus for becoming s-off :D i personally get quite a kick out of flashing different carrier/reginonal RUUs. :smokingsomb:

the sensation is a wonderful phone, and is much, much more fun when s-off and superCIDed. my 2 cents, anyway :)

Thanks all for the help. I'm pretty sure i am s-off. I remember doing that last year. im pretty sure i am superCDed and unlocked, but i could be wrong. I remember messing with all those the same day i rooted my phone.

if that is the case, then you should be able to easily flsah any rom you want from a permantly installed recovery,so there might be something wrong with your downloads,or flashing procedure.

you shlould also be able to run any RUU that you wish in order to get back to a working device.

again, telling us the info on your hboot screen will give some clues.

There's your problem as to why you couldn't flash certain roms. You need to update your firmware.
And don't worry about the locked thing you're good on that.
1.23 is an early ICS hboot,it may be giving you issues with some ICS roms.

cool thanks ill give it a try. would it mess up my current rom
it may,or may not. it would be a good idea to track down your current firmware prior to changing, unless you are prepaired to abandon this rom if you do have prollems.

do you know your phones original build number? failing that, what part of the world are you in,and was the phone branded or unbranded? if branded,to who?

it would also be to your advantage to superCID,if youre not.

do you have adb/fastboot set up? if not,i can get you a download and some more specific directions.

if you do,open a cmd window,place the phone in fastboot(not hboot),plug in,and
fastboot devices

if you get youre serial number back, then:
fastboot getvar cid
or
fastboot getvar all

if it returns 11111111 then you are superCIDed. if it returns somethign else, make note of that(incase you need to restore it later) and enter:
fastboot oem writecid 11111111

now youre super CIDed. enter the getvar cid command again to double check it changed :)
