Hi,
First post so go easy on little 'ol me!
Had my HTC One X on o2 for months now...all fine and dandy went to Greece for a week and had a few HTC emergency reboots automatically happen.... weird but thought it might be just what happens out of normal region....got home...had the message asking to do the required system update, did that... and now whenever i google search something and click the webpage i want..it opens the page for about 3 seconds then crashes and goes straight back to the google search widget thingy....
Help please... it's driving me even more scatty than usual!

Hey Clareypoo and Welcome to the forum :)

This is using the stock Internet app yes?

What version are you on now after your update, im guessing you got the 4.0.4 update ( you can find it in settings > about phone > software information)

You could try opening settings > apps > Internet and clearing the cache... could be hindering it a little...

Hope that helps

Starting having this problem in the last week and it's getting more severe with each day. Used to be heavy sites like the verge that would kill it instantly, but now it seems to be happening with everything. Phones is completely up to date. Haven't even installed anything new in past two weeks, bar some chess app that I deleted immediately. No problems with Chrome other than it's usual glitchiness.

Not sure if I'm typing this in correct place so sorry if not. New to site, android and HTC one x. Don't know if this will work for anyone but it just did for me. For 3 days HTC one x default browser has been crashing and driving me mad. Also the home screen had starting taking forever to load. I have spent entire day searching forums for a solution, none worked.I cleared all caches uninstalled apps, ticked and unticked DON'T KEEP ACTIVITIES under developer options (keep unticked)then eventually hours later, twit that I am,
I discovered that I had VIEW DESKTOP SITE checked under browser menu tab, unchecking this has solved the problem! No crashing and home page is loading instantly!. Hope that helps someone.

RECEIVED WITHIN ONE HOUR ON A SUNDAY: AND IT WORKED!!

Thank you for contacting HTC technical support Tom. I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with the stock browser sporadically closing your Internet. I can look into to this to see how I can help you resolve this issue.

The first thing I will have you do please Tom would be to go to the home page on your phone. Then I would for you to go to settings> apps> all> then you will scroll down and look for the Internet app> tap on it and clear data from it. Then if you have any app killers I would ask that you remove them as well. As they are known to cause problems with the software on the phones. Then once that's done I will have you restart your phone by press and hold the power button down till you have a option to restart.

If this does not work what I will do is have you place your phone into safe mode, this will stop any third party apps from starting up. This way we would be able to see if it is a app causing the problem or if it is the phone. To place your phone in safe mode follow these steps please:
1. With the Device turned off
2. Press the power button
3. Once the device turns press and hold the Volume down,
Once you see the splash screen (HTC quietly brilliant)
4. Press and hold the Menu button (DO NOT RELEASE THE VOL DOWN)
You will know it has worked because the device will give a brief vibrate or 3 quick vibes. Once it loads you will see on the

Hello,
I thought it was just me!!
I too had and email from HTC..although nothing as useful as the poster above. Mine said to clear data and cache from Internet app and also HTC sense which i did and it wiped all my personalised screens and apps and it looked just like a new phone again (although apps and messages and themes were still saved thanked goodness)....Thanks for the warning HTC..NOT!! It wasn't even a factory reset....and no it hasn't helped at all...... I'll have to try the extra bit the other poster had success with.... will report back!

Here was the copy of the HTC support email I received...complete with their bad spelling.

------------------------------------------------------------------Please complete the following steps in order to resolve your query

Tap Menu- Settings- all Apps- ALL- Internet and than - Clear defaults- Clear Cache- Clear Data
this same thinkg we will do on THC Sense.

The reason I am asking you to do this is beacouse we will Clear cache partition of the device.

I recommend that you now perform a full back up of your phone; it is recommended to back up on a regular basis. Please follow the link below for the steps.

HTC Sync software can provide you support to move media content from the phone to your PC. I would also recommend taking out the SIM card to confirm data on these is safe.

For further help using HTC sync, please see the link below:

HTC sync download link: HTC Support Center HTC sync instructions:

HTC Sync Install Instructions - HTC Support Center

In the event that the above steps do not resolve your issue, once you have successfully backed up your phone please perform a Factory Reset by following the link below.

Menu- Settings- Storage- Factory data reset

WARNING: A factory reset will delete all of your data, including text messages, contacts and applications it is therefore extremely important that a back up has been completed.

I look forward to hearing that this has resolved your enquiry, to close your email or alternatively to reply to me please follow the links below.

You will shortly receive an email asking you to submit your feedback, I would appreciate if you could take the time to let me know about the level of service I have provided you with.

Let me know if I have successfully answered your question, please click here to complete this.
