Geniatech Enjoy TV

I have been tying to get my unit reflashed/repaired but I cannot get the STV# up. Any Ideas as to how?

As I understand, once you have #STV up on the screen, you have access to the chip and you can start the repair process and reflash the various bits and pieces as per the previous posts. Anyway that is what I would/will do if I can get the #STV up.

Further, as I undersatnd it, the process and the subsequent updtaes will fix up your current error.

BTW could you post the way you have set up your wiring, ie Rx Tx & Pos Earth.

I note the Russian site uses a 3 wire system Rx Earth TX

Hello Enviro8
Sorry for my english (it is a translation by google)

Were you able to get to the line of STV #?
If yes, can you give me the procedure?

Thanks

Any special TTL is no needed! Simple ttl cable on RS232 with TX, RX and GND.
For ATV1000 or ATV2000 you need only basic spi_M3_512.bin - that file we need form Geniatech support. But i think you can use spi from one spi update package.

Remember You do it at their own risk! I recommend that only to people with experience with linux or router developer.

Recovery procedure is here (I use it on bricked ATV300).
Serial manual.pdf - 4shared.com - document sharing - download

1st clear the nand, 2nd Load spi and 3rd load update image. Done.

the link is not valid
Can you please fix this?
thanks

I bought 2 of these ATV310 boxes and both of them have Wi-Fi issues. My ATV1000 never had this much trouble with Wi-Fi. Sometimes it would take a few tries to connect (it would take long at Obtaining IP Address) but never had speed issues. On the ATV310 I'm finally getting connected but only getting download speeds of 200-500Kbps (my internet is 10Mbps)!

Does anyone else have problems with the ATV310 (Nano) box and Wireless "N" routers? I expect the signal to be a little bit weaker because it does not have external antenna. But not this bad. Does it have the same wireless chipset as the ATV1000 or different?

I am using the Android 2.3 20120606 M1 firmware.

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like the same old problem on the ATV5xx series, Geniatech or the factory that makes them placed the wireless antenna in a really bad spot inside the case. You can take the ATV5xx case apart and re-position the antenna.

The ATV1xxx & higher series didn't suffer from this as they all used external antennas attached to the box.

I have upgraded my AMP1000 to Android 4.0.3.

The Android Media Player AMP1000 from Diamond Multimedia is a rebranding of the Geniatech ATV1000. Most apps including XBMC are working fine.

But the screen size is too big, and important information is invisible at the screen edges.

I tried to use the Screen Position utility in the Settings menu, but it does not save my changes.

The help info says to press the "Back" key to save the settings. When I press the "ESC" key (which is the "Back" key on the remote), the settings are not saved.

Has anyone had this problem on their Enjoy TV?

Can anyone help me reduce the screen size on my AMP1000?

I have the same problem, but only on the "video player" screen when a movie is playing otherwise it is fine. I think this started when they updated their firmware so that you no longer need to reboot when you adjust the "Display Position" which was updated in the 20120606 firmware. Previous firmwares you needed to reboot after you adjust the Display Position which I guess does something extra to adjusts the display size of the "video player" screen.

After adjusting the Display Position and you press "back" button does it ask you to reboot or just asks you to confirm and press "OK"?

Hello. I have recently been having trouble with Google Play when trying to roll my own firmware using Gio's technique. Whenever I open any app in Google Play (just to see details of the app) it crashes. Here is the log from logcat.

Has anyone seen this before?

If your market release is 3.4.4 or superior, you must remove this file: android.hardware.nfc.xml
from "permissions" folder in: /system/etc

Regarding my problem about Google Play crashing. ^^^ The post by Gio above is the fix. Make sure you remove the android.hardware.nfc.xml from the permissions folder. I was including it by mistake, I guess I was using an old copy of the full_permissions.zip.

Thanks again, Gio! :D

Which device you have from Geniatech?

WW.
Sorry for late reply..
I got the.. 'Enjoy TV Box ATV3000 - Smart TV Box with HDD Bay'
http://www.geniatech.com/pa/atv3000.asp

So it seems I could try out the modded roms from this thread..

Has any one cracked the recovery option yet..
Be nice to be able to get a CWM or TWRP recovery going on it..

I know it can be done with uboot type devices as I can load it on a older flytouch tablet of mine..
If any of the the modded gurus here want to have a look at the file and see if it can be tweaked for these boxes..
_barsuk_CWMRecovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1361956

I am not sure if the touch recoveries would work as I don't know if the touch can be replaced via keyboard or mouse commands..
Will try out the TWRP I got running on the transformer while plugged into the dock with usb mouse and see if it works..
If it does, and then this would mean it could be modified for this media boxes. As we could boot into via one of the boot to recovery apps.

Hi,

It's actually my first post on this topic.... :)

About CWM recovery, _fun from xda-developers did some successful work on that for M1 based media boxes... I personally don't have time or need right now to port cwm to m1/m3 platforms... _fun and others are developing CM9 to Amlogic platform with CWM included (it's mostly tablets but few builds for media boxes also exists). See this topic.

Hi wombat613, you can find "Professor Android" reinstalling previous SPI file
(that is previous uboot and recovery version).
This is the link: www.geniatech.com/down-eng/Androidtvbox/update_spi20111102.zip
Rename the file to update.img and install as usual (in recovery mode).

Well guys.. didnt take long for DG wreak havoc on his box..
now that he has identified he has the ATV3000 M1, and he had it running nicely on the Geniatech M1 Android 4.0 20120529, he thought he might try the moded..4.0 20120730 - Thanks gio965

http://androidforums.com/google-tv/408166-geniatech-enjoy-tv-37.html#post4898400

Seemed to flash fine.. Bootup fine.. and pops in to launcher..
then oops becomes sticky as hell..

Launcher force closing, Market going painfully slow.. as was trying to download TB to load the backup..
Did a wipe of the box from within.. but still was sticky..
Did some tests.. pulled out my sdcard.. and it seemed to run fine.

Note: the card is a Microsd in the SDcover..so i was thinking this might be the problem.
Plugged in a freshly formatted 8g sdcard out of the camera..but started have FC's and sticking problems..
So maybe a bad flash..

Then preceded to flash Geniatech M1 Android 4.0 20120730 stock.. (off the fresh sdcard)
80% through the flash.. got a "Radom offset: 0xe9" error..
it sat on this but then booted.. had a play around and seemed to be soso..
a few FC and not as zippy as the original 20120529..

Note: I also lost the green professor during this process.. now onto the box and green man..

Anyway.. 12pm and had 6am wake up for work to time to turn it off..

Next night.. flashed back to 20120529..
Same problem..
80% through the flash.. got a "Radom offset: 0xe9" error.. eeeee..
anyway booted in to 529, and seemed to work sell enough for an hour or so that I played with it..

So once I was satisfied that I hadnt bricked it.. time to Flash 4.0 20120730-mod..

same problem.. 80% through the flash.. got a "Radom offset: 0xae" error.

Kinda know what this is.. as had it from the transformer.. the Rom is looking for a setup file.. cant find it and so wants to abort.. Anyway.. it flashed ok and boots ok.. problems I am getting are..

1: Market -even with fix (as per permissions file fix) it still doesn't want to load from market any file. not FC, just a DL error..
2: Random Launcher F/C
3: Just seems sticky over all after running for a while..

So.. reading through the thread I have found some fix's to try..
but this is where a good recovery would come in handy.. so we can do a good wipe before loading new Roms in..

Also.. as these are Uboot versions.. are we able to hook it up the Laptop and use the USB and either "burntool" or UIW application to burn roms directly to the box?
As per this thread..
[GUIDE] :: SuperPad/FlyTouch2/WWE10 Android 2.2 V2.5 #4325 Froyo USB Flashing :: - xda-developers

Anyone got instructions on USB recoveries as yet..?

Once again.. as always.. thanks in advance to modder's and Rom developers..
and anyone else that helps out us Rom-flasheroholic's :smokingsomb:

edit: flashed.. update_fingerprint-tweak_and_market-resetter_for_ICS-0529.zip

no joy.. market not gimme me joy..
Flashed back to original 20120529.. its gimme some love now..
maybe my box just doesn't like the next version of upgrades.. at the moment.. on 529.. its back to zippy..
Like on the upgrade is like a slug on both stock rom and mod.. so for me its back to 529..

also as a note, I was able to boot into a recovery screen..using TB boot to recovery...
options are as follows..
1.reboot system
2.apply update
3.wipe date/factory reset
4.wipe cache partition
5.set efuse item ....(never seen this before anyone know what it means?)
to answer my own question..its got..just for factory testing..
a..audio licence
b...Ethernet Mac address
c...Bluetooth Mac
6. set output mode

Heading out of China back to Australia for mums 70th birthday tomorrow...so not going to get to play with it for a few weeks..

if you haven't tried out.. Ocean HD or My Beach HD.. do it.. they rock on this..
I had it setup with these and they look great.. get the girls over..rock some music off the streaming radio stations..(Ministry of Sound app for me..) and you are set for a night of .... as this is a family channel.. I leave it to your imagination..):D

I am going to need a new name..haha.. too many posts..

I wanna O/C this thing..
We need source for the kernel..

As I was saying above.. if we can get the 3 part flashing going.. then it means we can flash kernel separately..
i.e - flash u-boot upgrades..flash image upgrades and then flash Kernel..
Bloody Chinese need to release source so some bright bugger can work on it..
I am sure we could over clock the box's up to 1200-1400 as heat is not a problem on mine..
its got a fan and well ventilated.. so I would love to see how fast and stable the 800's are on o/c..

I am kinds spewing.. should have done a bit more research on them.. as the dual core are out already..
thinking of selling mine and upgrading already.. but might kill it instead with playing with it..as they are cheap enough..

At the moment, it wont let me O/C so we need to pull the kernel apart.. and put some new governors in it..

ok.. I will start the bidding..

kickstarter...

$US50 to any PayPal account for someone to supply me a kernel that I can flash and can O/C :D
O.. if you could add in "uniput.ko" as well.. then we would be cooking with gas..

and now I am sure others will want it..
so if we all chip in..
I am sure someone could rise to the challenge..

Also regarding your SD card issues, I have 1 box with a faulty SD slot. So it might be the same with yours. You can flash the ROM using a USB stick. Does that get you past the 80%?

Hi all, just a few changes also for the latest 20120606 GB release:

-disabled line "persist.sys.gsm.numeric=310260" in build.prop
(for automatic access to your own Play Store)

-added new app "Market Unlocker", working beside to inbuilt "Set market region"
(no need to reboot and more customized markets)

-removed SPI upgrade

-added some system and media apps (Android System Info, Bluetooth Finder, Bluetooth File Transfer, Tvdream, Wifi Analyzer)

-removed some apps (Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, Mundu Radio, Mundu IM, IMDB)

Rename the file to update.img and install as usual (in recovery mode) or, if you are under ICS,
without renaming, use the inbuilt "Upgrade" app.

This is the link to the firmware:

update_20120606_M1_2.3_mod.zip

Thank you gio for your continued hard work...really making my ATV worth every penny and then some. Quick question does this version allow location services to work. I have the 29 firmware but with the NFL gamepass it can't locate my settings so looking to try another version.
Cheers

Hi Hocus, I have installed the "NFL GamePass" app and I have had the same issue
(both on 20120606 GB and 20120730 ICS releases).
So at this moment, even with latest firmwares, you don't solve your problem:(

Avirex,
yes, tried that when i was on the 30 firmware..by changing that file to a .bak file and rebooting.. but still no go..
I then have gone back to the 529 firmware.. via the recovery method.. and wiped everything 3x just to make sure.. then loaded 529..
and its working like a dream again.
unfortunalty as said.. have had to leave it behind and do some travelling. .so will be back to it in a few weeks.. after the 8th of oct..
so will play with it again..
I might try the wiping method like 3-4 times before I load the .30 firmware back on.. and see if it makes a difference..

As to SDcard.. I just brought a new 64gig here in Singapore on the way through.. so will see how this goes..
and as you pointed out.. we have the USB method which is good to know too..

As to Harddrives for setup for Samba's.. what have people been using?
I am thinking of getting the 1T barracuda..
