Hey guys, im an htc one x user. I am pretty dissastisfied with this phone and its completelt broken multi-tasking as well as htc's willingness to allow at&t put so much garbage on this phone that use resources and its locking down of the kernel to hinder/make rooting impossible. I am considering switching to an s3. I was wondering what all of your thoughts on this phones multi-tasking abilities were. Also, if any of you have rooted and installed customs roms, how easy was that? I cannot stand the samsung UI i greatly prefer sense or google and being able to easily put straight android on there would be a big plus. Any other thoughts anyone may have on the s3 would also be appreciated. Not too interested in comments on the one x - ive had it since the day it came out and am very familiar with it.

the gs3 is an amazing phone. samsung it self is amazing phone company. from all the last samsung phones i previously owned was great. in samsung galaxy line of phones they provide some good features specially with the new gs3.

gs3 has a nice size display and with its super amoled screen the picture is amazing. the phone is fast and smooth at running games and videos. its also good at multitasking.

i had the phone since launch and haven't had any problems.

I had an HTC Incredible before getting the S3 and was reluctant to give up Sense, but I absolutely love my S3. The ONLY thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't do the "reflow text" thing that sense does in the browser. When you zoom in on a page, it reflows only to the extent of its presets, but doesn't keep reflowing if you adjust the zoom.

Hard to explain, but on the Incredible, no matter what zoom level you pinched to, the text would always reflow and adjust. On the S3, you can double press to zoom in and it will reflow for that zoom level, but if you adjust the zoom it doesn't adjust the reflow any more.

I've gotten used to it by setting up the default zoom level and text size to something that I'm comfortable with, but if in some cases it's not enough and I have to zoom in some more, the text doesn't adjust so I have to scroll a little bit. Annoying but liveable.

i had an ONE X before my S3...

i felt it was as good as the S3 except for 2 things:

1. no battery R&R
2. no SD card slot.

i felt as if i was back on my iphone 3G again...

fortunately, my local ATT store allows 30 day returns (well minus a restocking fee). so i waited another month or 2 and got the S3. havent looked back since. :)

I also upgraded from an original HTC Incredible. I hated to give up my Dinc, I loved that phone, it was the only thing I let get between me and my inflatable woman!

I was afraid to give up sense and everything that went with it, but my Incredible was worn out and I was forced to replace it. Getting used to my S3 has been painless! Everything worked right out of the box. I hate to say I don't miss sense at all. This phone does everything I need or want it to do. Setup was a breeze, four email addresses, many website control counsels I need for business, it all works great!

A few little issues here and there, but I found answers on this site and solved them. Now I'm a little wary about the upcoming Jelly Bean release, how do you get better then this? I'm very happy! ;)

Is multitasking signifficantly better than the one x? If my one x could multitask without crashing sense or my other apps i wouldnt care about the other issues it has, but it cant multitask. No web browser seems particularly amazing on it - dolphin is slightly slower than chrome and is capable of taking all memory resources to the point of the browser crashing - an infrequent issue...chrome on the other hand will cache itself before crashing and then it has to be closed and reopened to get going again, pretty much equaling a crash. Internal storage is nice to have but holy shit multitasking would make me happy.

I've never had any issues multitasking, and I think the 2 GB of RAM (US - Verizon) has a lot to do with that. I use Dolphin Browser HD almost exclusively and the last time I recall it crashing was when I was viewing a site that had literally about 20 videos playing simultaneously. Seems pretty solid to me.

I've just upgrade from a HTC Desire HD (Rooted and running JB) and I must say I'm pretty impressed.

GPS locks in seconds, battery life blows away the DHD, Screen is nice, it's quick, front cam for Skype, plenty of internal storage and memcard slot, multitasking isn't an issue.

Not sure about some of the more gimmicky things....flipping the phone doesn't mute the music or ringtone - neither does putting my hand on the phone, S voice is still taking some getting used to, not sure I'll use it, but it's clever, lots of silly Samsung bloatware that needs you to sign up for an account before you can use.

Rooting is simple using Odin - It was quicker to run the root process than download the required files!! Not put a custom ROM on yet as I'm waiting for the official JB release.
