So apparently accepting the update on my phone the other day made it worse.. how do i undo the update..? Can i wipe the phone and it will be without the update..? Problem is that i updated phone and now i have bad cell standy issues and i can barely make it 8hrs on my phone when before the update i was able to get 21hrs on my phone.. so if someone could help me id appreciate it.

I got the Sprint update this morning and my battery is NOTICEABLY worse...already!!

can you post some screenies of that as im on sprint myself too and love my battery life, also are you in a 4g/LTE service area? also, you can do a factory reset, sometimes the updates dont take a hold in the system and run funky, it has helped a few people out, as well as myself (copy/paste & sms problems)

I had the same issue. I noticed that after the update the android system was burning up 60% of the total battery usage and killing the battery. Rebooting made no difference so i pulled the battery and so far that has seemed to fix the problem. Give it a shot and let us know how it goes. It worked for me and i am on Verizon as well.

I'm new here as well as new to the S3. I switched over from an iPhone 4, before that, the 3.

I just purchased the S3 over the weekend and yesterday was the first day at work with the phone, doing my usual thing, barely touching and/or using the phone.

Compared to the iPhone's, it seems that the battery life on the S3 is rather lack-luster. Literally, within seconds of unplugging the S3 from the charger, it drops down to 99%. With 5 minutes or so, it's down to 96-97%. If I pull it off the charger by 7:30am, it's down to about 35% at 6pm, and that's with it in my pocket most of the day, only checking a few PM's from my girlfriend throughout the day, maybe 10 at most! That's ridicules if you ask me.

And all of the above is after going through the Device Manager and shutting down apps that aren't needed, sync's turned off, wifi turned off, power save on, even Easy Battery Saver and Juice Defender on, and everything wiped out of the Task Manager.

Which reminds me, last night after we got home from dinner, the S3 was at roughly 56%. I woke up around 2am and just happened to notice that the S3 had drained itself all the way and was off. I tried booting it, but it just flashed the Samsung splash screen for a few seconds and went right back off. Needless to say, I put it on the charger immediately.

At any rate, I just installed the 82meg AT&T update in hopes of it improving the battery life of this thing. Other than the battery sucking, I love the phone, even more so than the iPhones!

Here's keeping my fingers crossed...

I started a separate thread the day after the ATT Update was released. I started having ridiculous battery drain after the update, even after restarting, disabling everything but the radio. I posted a few screenshots showing full drain in about 6 hours post update, whereas I could literally go from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM before the update with battery power to spare.

I called ATT, and was directed to a Tier 2 person, and then ultimately to Samsung. Tried everything and no one can do anything. I am

I just recently switched from the iPhone 4 to the GS3 as well. I've had my phone for about nine days. I was appalled by the battery life the first few days of having my GS3. It was horrific. I did everything that can be done (other than airplane mode) to conserve battery and it just sucked, plain and simple.

I decided to exchange my GS3 at the AT&T store for a new GS3. I've been using the new GS3 for about three days now and it's a huge improvement in battery life as opposed to my original GS3; however, it still is not on par with the iPhone 4's battery life. My iPhone 4 was two years old and still had better battery life towards the very end than the GS3 did out of the box.

Even with the obvious inferior battery life to the iPhone 4, I still am pleased with my GS3. I like that it has a removable battery and it uses a microUSB port. I consider myself a moderate to heavy user, so I plan on buying a second battery soon. I couldn't do that with the iPhone 4.

Just came on here to post that i did the factory reset 2 days ago.. yesyerday battery life span was wicked crap.. today its good so far but nowhere near what it was before.. maybe in the next couple days itll get better since i know battery stats get wiped when factory resetting. Guess the only option is to factory reset then to fix the problem.. thats if you had the same problem as i had.

Many Galaxy S3 users have been facing the battery drain issue on their devices after the jelly bean update. Here's a quote from tutznet.
-------------------
I used TitaniumBackup and removed “Media Storage” and I also removed “Downloads 4.1.1″
ReBoot into Recovery & wipe cache and dalvik cache
Dirty-Flash your ROM of choice which you chose @ Step.5 and chose the same features if possible.
Install your prefered Kernel optional (I personally chose Ktoosez 3.0.49 just because it gave me good battery life)
Wipe cache and dalvik the last time and also fix permissions.
------------------

Don't know why you people are facing the drainage issue, My S3 is running more faster and smoother after the update.. Google Now is the most loved thing of mine :D
