Help Anyone else having a problem with the power button?

I would take it to another Sprint repair store in your area if possible. If there is not another one near you and you have to go back to the same store again, try going at a different time of day or weekend and asking a different associate politely to test the power button on your phone. Then see if they can try out a different battery door on your phone just for fun. It may also help if you do a side by side comparison with the store display(s) to give another point of reference in your favor (assuming your phone's power button has a different feel that can be easily detected)

yeah that is definetly a good idea.. i have compared it to two freinds 3vos at work and while the button does work everytime i press it.. it just doesnt have the same feel.. maybe im just to picky lol.. just have high expectations for the phone and dont want to have any more issues

I have a problem and i desperately need help with :/ soooo as some of u might have experienced the issue with the power button registering twice with one press.. well so did mine and i only recently found out it is a software related problem so when this started happening back then, i went crazy over it and removed the back cover and forcefully pushed the 'real' button down and pulled it up! more than once lol, and i guess in that process i managed to snap it and well now its broken but surprisingly it is still connected by a cord or something so it can still stay in place and work normally with the back cover on soooooo the problem is the store i got it from doesnt come with hardware warranty :S so if i were to ask them for a replacement and tell them it was like that when i got it, is there a chance i can get a replacement? If not, how much would it cost for the repairs, doesnt matter where you're from, just tell me the price so i can estomate how i have to pay for it help pleasee

My EVO's down button is stuck. I opened the battery door to find out the small buttony thingy is shoved down and the Sprint repair man said its unfixable. I can replace the phone, but the EVO 3D is know to have tons of problems, and I might be stuck with a phone with more problems. I wanna know if there is an app/Mod that allows me to access the volume buttons onscreen fast, kind of like the Nexus' onscreen buttons. It is pissing me off and I looked it up already.

When i first got the EVO 3D, I found 2 dead pixels. They may not be much of a problem, but when it comes to black loading screens, it really pisses me off. I was on vacation so I had to wait. When I was comming back, I was using it in the car, and it suddenly said that the SD card was damaged. I later switched it for this, my second EVO 3D. About 2 weeks after I got it, this annoying POS happened and I didnt do anything to it (6 weeks later) I got to sprint and (look above). But my question is, IS THERE ANY WAY TO ACCESS THE VOLUME BUTONS ONSCREEN QUICKLY? ( and I dont mean going to settings> sound>volume).

(And if I order a new one, It will be refurbished. Look below why I dont want to order a new one.)

24. Contact name and number not fully displaying in landscape message mode
25. Power button sticks/inoperable
26. Clearing notifications in the dropdown removes the new unread message notification on application
27. Weather lockscreen does not properly display 3 digit temperatures
28. Pictures sent to Picasa web albums may display only a partial picture
29. HTC Watch app hangs while acquiring license
30. Unable to add "Phone" shortcut to weather lock screen once removed
31. HTC HUB on EVO 3D has incorrect picture on link
32. Unable to switch video trim after selecting "Play in 3D"
33. Device does not recover from lock screen gracefully after "Play in 3D" is selected
34. SD Card damaged by EVO 3D
35. GPS coordinates for Footprints stays in Taiwan
36. Birthday off between facebook and contacts in people

hmm...guess most of us lucked out (knocks on wood)

and I guess to answer your question, there is plenty of on screen volume widgets you can download from the market that control every volume aspect of your phone...just search volume widget in Play

That post is a summary of ALL issues that have been noticed by a multitude of users. Many of them could simply be user problems, or hardware issues with the microSD card, or incorrect flashing of a ROM, or even a bad ROM. If you are going to look at every single problem reported by every user on that forum, I bet you can find a similar list for every single phone out there. Android or iOS or WP.

Remember - a majority of people turn to support forums when they have problems with their device - not necessarily when everything works fine.

I (along with a LOT of users on this forums I'm sure) can confirm that we have never had any of these issues with our EVO 3D. Like marctronixx, I'm still on my first EVO 3D. Besides some user problems (me doing things incorrectly) and some Android quirks, I've had no issues with my phone till date.

Not to say that there aren't some bad devices out there - of course. It is hardware. There will always be a small percentage of devices that have issues (but that is the case with EVERY hardware device out there) - that's why we have warranty from manufacturer for the first year (and TEP if you choose)

Back to your original question though, that sounds like a hardware issue and if sprint is saying that it is not repairable, then replace it. Use the replacement and if you notice any problems, take it back to sprint asap and ask them to fix it. Usually, you can find most of the potential issues in the first few days.

Darn. I would have just told him to get a pair of needle nose pliers and rip the offending button off. There now he has one less issue. Repeat above procedure when encountering any other issues with your Evo.

Okay I got my new HTC 3D Evo from Virgin mobile, currently I only have one small issue. The phone Lock button (on top right) is too hard. Locking and unlocking this phone is kinda hard, the lock button is Not like the Volume buttons it's much harder. My question is, is the lock button broken? or is it just hard/annoying lock button? The phone came like that, I know for sure that i didn't break it. anyone has the same issue?

It shouldn't be hard to push, actually should be like your volume rocker, if your having problems locking and unlocking. My advice is to take it back to the place you bought it and exchange it if it's still in the 15 day or whatever day warranty vm offers. If not, take it in for repairs if vm offers that service. 3vo's power button should not be like that.

Btw if you can still lock and unlock its not broken, just a partial manufacturer malfunction if it came like that out of the box.

Fwiw I had the same problem with mine and it was the most frustrating problem I've delt with to date technology wise. The button was so hard to press, so I took it into sprint thinking they would replace it no problem. Wrong. They swapped the back. (which will probably work for 90% of the people.) but it didn't help me. My problem was the button itself. The sprint store determined that they couldn't " replicate my problem"and sent me packing. That was anoying.... I tried all the online tricks, no dice. I finally brought it to a 3rd party sprint store, who replaced it no problem.. Moral of the story is, you know how the device should function. Don't let sprint convince you it's" ok".

hi! i'm from canada and i'm having the exact same issue w rogers. my lock button broke too (wouldn't respond when button was pushed down) so i decided to fix it myself, and broke it like you said!! now to turn on my phone i have to remove the back and pop out the SIM card to get my lock screen opened up, FRUSTRATING. when i turned my phone into rogers (finally) to get fixed, they returned it saying it was out of warranty damage and would cost me 175$!! i refuse to pay that because the phone does not live up to expectations. i was just wondering if you had any luck w your phone and some bargaining tips for phone companies! thanks a lot

I also had A LOT Of problems with the power button. It was so bad I couldnt turn off my phone via the power button because as soon as i let it go the option to click restart or shut down would disappear. I took it and exchanged it. Very faulty. Have had the new one for about 3 months, no problem.
