Help The volume can't go lower than this?

So I got the phone last night and activated it. I setup most of the things on it and set it on its lowest volume while i slept. but dang, this thing is still loud on its lowest setting.

i had an Incredible, then Incredible 2, and this M's lowest setting is about like the medium volume on those two. Anyway to tweak this?

thanks, but neither of the free apps seems to work at all. lowering the system volume has no effect.

there's a toggle in one of the apps' controls for making the notification volume match that of the ringer, but that doesn't seem to work either.

kind of becoming an issue since I'd like to get a light sound while i'm at work.

I thought I'd mention in a more specific way: I always get a volume control app (this time it's Volume Ace Free) for my phones where I can individually raise and lower the volumes for ringtone, notifications, alarm, etc. Even on the lowest setting, this phone is nice and loud for notifications. It's pretty loud for playing music out of the speaker too.

Have any of you found a solution to the high ringer volume? I have mine set to as low as it will go before just being on vibrate. It is not good for work. I was just in someone's office talking and my Rage Against The Machine ringtone went off, and it was loud.

I have not and will not root my device. I am using Volume Controle+ as my volumes control app. I might just find a relatively quiet ringtone or part of a song and go with that.

I'm actually having a very annoying problem with the volume output. It is very loud and generally isn't a problem, like when using the stock media player, however when i play Pandora it absolutely kills my speakers. I actually blew up all 4 of my door speakers listening to Pandora on this phone. Lowering the phones volume doesn't fix the problem either. Even when the volume is low and the music is quiet you can still hear the speakers distorting and making popping sounds.

I really like this phone but if i can't use it to listen to Pandora in my car that's a deal breaker.

Anyone have any suggestions? I've tried downloading an EQ app and lowering the sliders and Vol output, but even then there is noticeable distortion. Fortunately Toyota paid for my speaker repair this time, but they said they won't do it again. So I either need to fix this problem or say peace out to the M.

While I love RATM, maybe try using the built in Smart Actions app to change your ringer to a more "work friendly" tone during your normal working hours.

Yeah, the software update actually fixed my volume scale issues. Now it's normal.

I agree. The ringtones and notifications are much louder on my new Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4. My only choice was to put my phone on vibrate when I was in meetings until I came up with this solution:

1) Download and install free software on your PC called Audacity
(I originally included the link, but apparently I can't do that since this is my first post.)

2) Connect your smartphone to your PC and locate the ringtones in the phone's file system.

3) Start Audacity and open the ringtone or notification tone that is too loud.

4) Simply slide the volume bar to the left to make the sound quieter (I found that -18bB worked best for me)
(I originally included an image, but apparently I cannot do that since this is my first post.)

5) Save the quieter sound file on your phone by clicking File -> Export (not "Save Project") in the Audacity menu

Bingo ... you now have sound files that are not as loud :D

I hope this helps!

You can change the volume of each sound level in Engineer Mode. You don't need side-apps to do that.

To enter Engineer Mode, enter this code in the dialer: *#*#3646633#*#*

After that, scroll to the right, go to Hardware Testing > Audio > LoudSpeaker Mode

Select "Type: Media", modify the volume of the different levels, "level 0" is not "mute", it's the first volume level after "mute".

You can have music playing in the background while tweaking these values. Be sure not to go overboard with insane volume values, that can cause damage to your speakers. Also, you might want to write down the default volume values if you intend to restore them at a later time.

I give credit to this boy for giving me the idea:
Most people talk about boosting their volume with this, while forgetting that it can also lower it.

Hello!
Is that even still applicable to a 4 year old device in a 3 year old thread? ;)
It could be.

It works on my Huawei Y5 II, which runs android 5.1 lollipop. I posted about this, because I had the same volume issues and managed to solve them this way.

I'm not sure about that older device, but this thread showed up when I was looking for answers to my volume issues in google. If it worked for me, it might help others.
