Nova Prime launcher

Hey guys relatively new to the android system. I installed nova prime. Is it that much better than TW? Some people said nova isn't as fluid as TW. Also if you guys have any tips for it that would be helpful. Ps my phone is not rooted.

It's probably more of a preference, I use Go Launcher, some use apex or nova. I think Go launcher has the most themes. It also comes with a guide now to help you get around and learn it's features. Welcome to Android!!

I purchased my Siii when it came out in july (verizon here) and used TW for a month or less.

I switched to Nove and can not even look back, I tried a few others and I love all the customizations that nova uses, I also have it on my Moto Zoom 1st gen tablet, it is much more responsive than factory ones and slightly faster than others.

I would recommend you go thru the settings of nova, menu, Nova settings.

Change what you like, there are lots, take your time, and by all means enjoy your phone and welcome!

Nova launcher is one of the best. I used it the most up until I got TSF Shell. The price is the biggest detractor, otherwise I feel TSF is the best launcher (most unique, anyway).

Like everyone is saying, it comes down to preference. Take the time to try the free versions of a few launchers, if you don't like it, just uninstall it. That's the beauty of Android -- choice.

I think you will find that almost everyone, but not quite everyone, feels the third party launchers are definitely better than Touchwiz. TW has improved, but still not as easily modified to your preferences.

I'm loving nova prime plus hd widgets and Halloween hd from the$.25 sale.

You can see the widgets from your new apps by switching back to TW. you can switch back and forth and lose no settings.

I love nova's folders and the multi dock. You can get things done so much faster with nova. I also use icon changer to replace ugly icons (tapatalk) and create icons for internet shortcuts on the home screen. I prefer a lot of app icons vs widgets because you can delete the app name for a nice clean look.

I also tried go launcher. I downloaded the launcher and a bunch of the other go widgets and things. If themes are your thing, it might be nice. Widgets like MLB scoreboard will run almost any theme though.

I also got a bunch of home screen shortcuts and push notifications from some of the themes i tried. I deleted it all except Go SMS. i really like that with the dark theme tweaked to my liking.

I like TW except for its launcher (which is really garbage).

I had problems with Apex.

I didn't like GO, as I thought it was ugly and bloated.

I use Nova Prime and really like it. The only downside is that the TW tasks widget (which is sweet) doesn't work on it; I have to use two third-party apps (one for Outlook, one for the widget) and google tasks to replicate what I had with TW tasks widget. If you don't use Exchange server's tasks, then this is a non-issue for you.

I got Nova Launcher Prime as well and I'm using it as my default launcher right now over Touchwiz and I like it so far with not much difference in speed with TW. I like the scrolling wallpaper effect similar to other launchers like ADW Launcher Ex. There are a lot of settings to try out and they can be very subjective. I do like the card stack scroll effect for the Desktop and Drawer and the Jelly Bean app animation. Most of the TW widgets work on Nova Launcher Prime except for the Clock & Weather and Calendar Full Month widget which I both liked a lot. I have Fancy Widget (HC7 skin) and I used it to replace the Clock & Weather widget though I also like One More Clock widget's Chrome Rings Clock a lot and that's what I'm using for now and installed Accuweather widget to provide multiple city weather. If you use One More Clock widget's Chrome Rings Clock, set the Clock Update Interval to redraw every 15 seconds and Troubleshooting Options->Clock Priority to Medium to prevent time lag vs system clock without impacting battery life much. For Calendar, I use Business Calendar and I have always liked the scrollable, transparent, Agenda Widget of Business Calendar. Additionally, the S3 motion gestures (e.g. dial contacts) still work on Nova Launcher Prime. I really like being able to have 5-7 apps/widgets, with 3 pages on the Dock as well as the ease of creating folders like I had in previous Android OS/ADW Launcher Ex. Install TeslaUnread app as well for unread counts for SMS, Missed Calls, and possibly Gmail.

With regards to TW on the S3, I like it as well, especially the Full Month Calendar widget which is very readable compared to others like it. Scrolling wallpapers are nice but not that big of a deal for me and I can adapt to the way folders are created on it. The S3 and TW launcher is smooth and fast with no lag and that's the most important thing for me.
