Protecting my Samsung Galaxy Q

Hello there! I recently got my first cell phone - a Samsung Galaxy Q. It's quite awesome, but I've read that it's also fragile. I guess that's normal, with the sliding keyboard and all.

Given that I tend to drop my things a lot and I'm unlucky (my iPod fell once and the screen was destroyed), I'd like to protect it. I intend for it to last me as long as possible.

So I'm looking into a protective case - not those pouches, the kind that you can use the phone with it on - and I don't know what to look for. Truthfully, I don't even know what sort of material would be the most protective. Moreover, I'd guess that it wouldn't be as easy as with many other models to protect it, given that the case needs to be in two parts, or have a sliding thingie, or something.

What would you suggest? I don't trust store clerks anymore since I was told to buy a "thin but surprisingly protective" case for my iPod and it didn't even survive one fall.

Also, what do you think about screen protectors? I believe my phone's screen is made of plastic, so I think it might be quick to scratch. Should I get one? Do they impede the use of the touch screen? What should I be careful about when shopping for one?

PS: I have a profound hatred for leather.

Uhm, thanks for the tip, but I can't seem to find anything. Do you know any website I could find some?

Also, uhm, TPU is that soft rubber, right? From what I've read, if it's just a soft case, when there's an impact, the rubber just squeezes and transmits the shock to the phone, so they recommended a case with a hard exterior and a soft lining inside. What do you think?

A hard case plus a tpu lining is great. My otterbox case for my droid 1 had that but I tried seeing if your phone was supported but I couldn't find it. You might have to check out ebay for a case for your phone or google it.

Imo, a good tpu case is fine to protect a phone from minor drops. The hard cases Ive used have scratched and cracked.

Gosh, that'll teach me to buy an unpopular phone.

I searched Ebay and Google for over an hour today, and all I could find was useless hard cases. And a very narrow choice of them with designs I don't like at that.

If anyone can help, I'll be really grateful. I suck at searching, so maybe I've missed something I'm sort of desperate now. I don't wanna leave my phone unprotected...

I just -know- I'll destroy it at some point before three years pass if I don't have a good case. And if I destroy it, either I'm months/years without a cell phone, either I have to pay the remaining money on my carrier's progressive discount - which would be 200 $ if I broke it now - to be able to get a new one. That or I pay the whole phone, but that would probably be worse.

Can no one help me?
Go for a case or a screen protector.
I personally use a screen protector from a company called xoskins. And it has saved my phone numerous times.
But there are many other products out there as well which are just as effective. Do some reading or just check out amazon as well.
There are also carbon fiber back pieces that help out alot, I use that for my tablet.

I know about screen protectors, and will probably get one. But my problem right now is finding a case that really protects my phone from impacts, which hard plastic cases don't do much. And looks like my phone isn't popular enough for companies to make anything but hard plastic cases for it...

Sadly, they don't. Neither for the Galaxy Q, nor for the Gravity Smart that I recently discovered was the phone's name in the US.

(And I have to say, too, that the website's design is extremely crappy, enough to make me doubt about buying even if I did find what I was looking for.
