Upgrading from the Inc2

just saw this topic in this thread after I started another one, but legally, if you are grandfathered, how can being "grandfathered" expire? answer is, it can't.

I guess this would be a legal question. If Verizon was continuing to allow unlimited data for some users, but kicking out others who had previously been "grandfathered" in, then perhaps a case could be made. However Verizon no longer offers anyone unlimited data (AFAICT). In any case good luck trying to press this with Verizon :coffee:

I believe that you're grandfathered in as far as 3g is concerned. My understanding is that if you switch to 4g, you no longer have unlimited data.
That's why I'm especially p*ssed off that Verizon is not releasing ICS for this phone; they're banking on the belief that people will not want a phone that's 2 versions behind the latest OS, as the Inc2 is now, and will upgrade to a 4g phone, thereby losing their unlimited data plan.

Once your contract expires, they have no obligation to provide you with ANY service. They allow you to keep unlimited as long as you don't sign a new contract... doesn't matter if it's a 4g or 3g phone. The key is the contract, new contracts can only be signed using their new shared plans.

It's been fun, my friend. Maybe we'll cross paths again someday. Hope you enjoy your hot life through butter!
I'm a little jealous.

For those of us staying with Verizon and hoping for a worthy upgrade from HTC there is a recurring rumor for a phone being called the HTC Droid DNA. The alleged specs are rather awesome:
5" screen
1080p resolution
1.5 ghz quad core

We might see it released around Thanksgiving. This could be the phone for me :) , but I'll keep my head screwed on until the first wave of reviews.
