So I just got the s3, replacing the Bionic (hated it! ) I would love to install a ROM to make this phone super awesome but I'm a little nervous. The S3 is only 2 days old now and I love it but I assume that most of you are like me and need to make things better. I was looking at " High on Android " but all of the programs that were installed on my computer during the download turned me off :( So now I am looking at " Beans " and "Redemption" I would really appreciate some feedback on these ROMs or maybe a suggestion on a different ROM. I have already rooted the phone so there is no turning back now lol .Thanks in advance

Do you want stock or aosp? I'd go synergy stock or cm10 aosp. No need to put them on you computer just DL them in browser then move to the root of the SD card. Reboot to recovery and flash. Always make sure to wipe before changing ROMs.

Okay so I go to the Synergy D/L site and there are a few to chose from...Im guessing it is the second from the last on the list ?

Use ez unlock from the play store.

hmmmmm i have that installed along with superuser. Ive tried it in unlocked and unknown and locked, all 3 tell me the same thing. Is there something other than clicking unlock that im supposed to do ? maybe this is a sign telling me to leave the phone alone lol

Im thinking that I need to use method #2 for rooting ?

When and where is this error message occurring? What did you do up to that point?

okay here we go....

The error comes up when I boot into recovery and select the ROM Zip file from the SD card and hit the power button to start the process. It starts to list a couple of lines then it pauses for about 30 seconds and the the red warning comes up and my little droid dude lays on his back with a red triangle on his chest.

Here is what I did to that point...

I rooted the phone as per option #1
I downloaded ez-unlock and installed on external sd card
I downloaded ez-recovery and installed on external sd card
I downloaded Titanium backup and backed up
I downloaded " Synergy_d2vzw_03Oct12_0416_r73_s.zip (1277 views, 1010 downloads)" and " Synergy_d2vzw_03Oct12_0416_r73_s.zip.md5 (314 views, 203 downloads)"
I unlocked bootloader VIA "ez-unlock"
I booted into recovery
I selected " wipe data/factory reset "
I selected "wipe cache partition"
I selected " apply update from external storage "
from there I selected the downloaded ROM
This is when I get the error... I even tried " Beans " ROM and still get the error

I thought I would try rooting by method #2 and I still get the same results

I would:
- Run the zip file through an MD5 checker in Windows to verify it is good; I use WinMD5
- Use TWRP 2.2 rather than CWM

Are you using the internal "external storage" or the external SD card? If the latter, use the internal SD card instead.

Finally, I've had nothing but problems with GooManager, so I don't recommend it (or at least, don't use it when you are having issues).

Well I really appreciate all of the help you guys gave me, but my patience has run out ! I taken all of your advise and I still cant get this dam phone to take a ROM. Ill give it some time and take a peek in here from time to time to see if anyone else has had the problems I had. You guys are great! thanks you so much for being patient with me. Talk to you soon

Always always always verify your download with md5 checksum. Whether CWM actually uses the md5 file for verification, I don't know since I don't use CWM.

IIRC, CWM has difficulty with external SD cards; TWRP, however, does not.

Did flashing with TWRP give the same error?

I havent tried it yet, Im not too sure which TWRP to get for a Galaxy s3 on verizon. There are so many that come up in the search
