I am guessing that the price on the S3 is going to be high but man I have to admit I am tempted. My Esteem is working well for the most part but the battery life is pretty bad even with the extended battery. It is bulky too.

Yep... I am also ditching the Esteem in favor of the Galaxy S3. A year is long enough! Time for a new phone!

True that Mike.. I also bought a Nexus 7 to get a lil taste of the Jelly Bean and can't put the thing down, but I digress...

Gonna wait a while to see if the price goes down. Also, gonna wait for new ROMs & kernels so I can root it. I'm in love with my Esteem too, Williamw545

But the coolest thing besides a bad ass phone is Metro is putting in place a third party finance company that will finance your 500$ phone for 10% down if you can provide the proper proof on employment. So that's certainly a perk for us poor folk.
(How come when I started a thread about this same topic mine was moved to Carriers/Metro...hmm???)

Knowing metro the s3 price is pretty solid or it may even go up, just look at the price of the esteem. A phone that came out over a year ago lol

Yeah, but it's $279 with rebate now. I got mine for $300 with rebate just 6 months ago. The piece of sh** lightray is over $300 & it's not selling at all.

I'm probably ditching my esteem for the s3 very soon. I'm proud to say i've had my esteem for a year now and it's been flawless. Because of all the waiting on the s3, I've been spending money on more important things like bills and gas so I might be buying this thing late cus that's a alot of moolah right there on a phone. Might ask my bro for a slight loan or something

Exactly in 6 months a phones price dropped 30 dollars. In the first 6 month time span of the esteem, the price actually went up from when it came out. Is it worth waiting 6-8 months for a minor price drop which is still not very likely since the s3 will still sell well at the estimated price point?

Galaxy S3 if it's really $499 when it arrives-not on Oct.17 like I heard since it's now the 18th,
I don't think it will go down in price for a year or so-when the S4 or whatever comes out.
Not surprised about the Lightray not selling-it's kind of a novelty phone without the performance and specs people expect in that price range.
Maybe if it had Cable and Satellite Radio built in......

I'm actually ditching mine tomorrow. Finally found a buyer on craigslist for my Esteem for $160 but that's probably cause I'm including extended battery, 4gb sdcard, & bodyglove case. Didn't go the eBay route cause they take 12% of whatever you sell it for when you factor in how much Paypal charges you, and then shipping cost on top of all that. Bleh.
