Yeah, it's cool, but I'm not amazed. Seeems a bit crisper/faster. Gallery is cool.

Personally, I'd rather have a better OS integrated multi account (maybe push) email/sms/IM situation like Blackberry than live wallpapers. I appreciate the integration BB has qwith that stuff, as well as the multi profile thing (of course that stuff is available in apps). However, the problem with having a crapload of somewhat homebrewed apps to do simple stuff is they sometimees conflict with each other and that leads to inconsistant operation. I need to truly be able to count on a phone to do certain things.

The screens, well, I use Helix, so that's ok. Lotsa lil useful things can be done by developers in apps, so, that's where I find my happiness.

GPS is a lil wonky... Doing some strange things...

We seem to have gotten a bit off track here, but before I return to the rails I just want to point out that it's good for Adobe to work out the kinks, but they are notoriously slow. The launch dates have continually moved back.

In any case, my knickers aren't in a twist over Flash. I was merely attempting to explain to Dr.Evil that it is not in Google's control. Therefore, they can't offer it to us to make us feel better for his perceived delay in getting 2.1 out to us.

And back to point, I still have no 2.1 update. (sniff)

No worries...I wasn't wanting to argue about this...I was simply saying that we don't fully understand why there was a delay...I'm pretty sure Google and Verizon just didn't want to piss a bunch of people off. :D

I would vote but cant as I cant get my phone to boot in recovery mode. so hence I cant do update and comment on if I like it or not. my droid is having fun playind an april fools joke on me

Are you unrooted? If you are not rooted...I would address that issue with Verizon (you should be able to boot into recovery!). If you're rooted...there is a fix for you...just PM me if you need to.

Well, 11:59 EDT has come and gone and I didn't get the update...so now I'm waiting for 11:59 CDT (my time zone)...10minutes to go, but I'm feeling pretty confident that I won't get it and/or something catastrophic will happen and 200k people won't get the update :(

EDIT: Didn't get it and my data counter hasn't shown any activity that a download is in progress...expected, but still a bummer. I stopped using the phone at 11:58 and set it down for 3 minutes incase the phone needed to be "inactive"...and I have the latest PRL as of yesterday.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the update went out at 12:00 P.M. not A.M.

And as Scarlett O'Hara said "Tomorrow is another day." :D

I unrooted to get the update and I've had every rom you can think of (from BB to Cyanogen) and I'm happy with the update. Sure, the ROMS have more features than the official update, but at least now a stock Droid has just enough cool features to keep me pacified so that I won't become a ROMaholic again.

I got the update last night and am torn on it. I definitely noticed the speed increase immediately but my gallery doesn't work at all. I'm one of only a few others I've found that get stuck in the "Force close" loop. If it wasn't for that I'd be very pleased. The multitouch on the browser is better than what I saw when I used Dolphin

I wonder what happens to dolphin now that Droid users got the multi-touch browser... What other phones don't have sense ui or 2.1???

I am satisfied with the update. I don't know if I missed it before, or if it is part of the 2.1 update, but I LOVE the speach to text button in the keyboard. It works really well and saves me a lot of time typing on the keyboard!

You're right! I'd forgotten about this. It does work pretty well. Just tried it, and for the most part, it does work well. I wonder if it will work with background noise... I will find that out next week.

LOL, I can't even lie, I'm on the root forum every single day. But I'm just looking, I swear!

Yeah, no kidding! I read another post that you wrote and I was wondering what you were talking about. Slick...the juice is calling you! BB 1.0...Pete said it would be "epic"!...even if it isn't...you'll be pulling out the 2.0.1 sbf file....and you'll be back! :D

Ok I'll be one to admit that I stupidly unrooted to get the update now that I have it I'm kind of upset at myself. I mean I don't really care about the other Roms or the OC'ing because i like the plain Stock 2.1 how it is but I miss my wifi tether. That was the one thing I used the most when I was rooted. I hope they find an exploit for 2.1 soon.

The answers are in the thread that is link below...you CAN get back without having to wait on a 2.1 exploit

FYI, the night mode can be found right now if you put in a place to "navigate" too. It isn't a "map" feature...it is a "navigate" feature. It changes automatically based on the time of day. If you navigate during the day, you will have a bright white background and if you navigate during the night, you will have a dark background so you are not blinded by the bright screen while driving...much like commercial GPS units.
