Stupid Question (probably)

Oh jeez, I'm an idiot haha. Sorry about that.

Truth be told I never realized it defaulted to the dialer rather than contacts. However I guess that's why contacts is a seperate app. It's titled People, however you can't access the dialer from that. Kinda clunky IMO now that I noticed it.

Yeah, people = contacts, both on the screen = clutter....
On my OLD Dorid 2 I hit the phone app and it defaults to whatever was used last, Dialer Contacts or Favorites...Seems better to me...

Just played around with some stuff...

From the People app, you can access the dialer by hitting the phone icon next to the search key. So you might wanna just replace the Dialer app with People one on your home screen, dock area.

Vice versa, you can access contacts from the Dialer app by hitting the Search key.

Moto/Google is making Blur as close to stock Android as possible.....so this is one of the side effects. I do like that they kept T9 dialing. If I remember correctly, stock ICS still doesnt do that.

They must have changed something from the first Razr's. When I open the phone app on my Maxx it opens to the last screen I was on...either the dialer, recent call history or favorites. You swipe left or right through the three pages. When I open the dialer it opens to the most recently used page.

Just checked my orig RAZR, and you are right. Interesting....lol.

This is how my Droid 2 acts...

Huh - I never noticed that either! I guess I don't go into the phone app much. What I did is installed the native 'Favorite contacts' widget. That gives you immediate access to people in your favorites. I put it at the top of the home screen, right above the Circles widget and you just pull down on that and it gives you a list of all your favorite contacts. I like it because it looks good as it displays the first four photos from your favorites which are my family members.

Here's a screen shot of what my home screen looks like (the bottom widget is a Rhaspsody widget but they have similar 4x1 widgets for Spotify, Slacker, Pandora, iHeart, etc):

Agreed, I like the stockness a lot.

As for the Phone, it would be cool to change the default behavior... I'd rather it show the Recents page on launch.
No big deal though, it's a quick swipe.

It's no big deal to me, but, I bought this phone for my wife. It's her first smartphone/touch screen, and, she is having a little difficulty getting used to it. So, anything I can do to make it easier for her....
