Root Has anyone else tried the 4.1.2 miui ROM at xda?

running rev 5 with original kernel (only because it gives me amazing battery
) i'd say give it a week or two to improve for sure. other than that, great rom. 
unfortunately, still cannot receive MMS :/

Yeah I ran this all day and a lot of the apps will just randomly force close while ur using them. Also, do a Google search and then try to select one of the results after the browser opens. FC every goddanged time! It's so f*****g annoying! No 4g, no mms and no panoramic camera. Video and standard camera work just fine though. Couldn't stay on it long enough to find anything else. The FC's were just too much.

you sir make a valid point. i was thinking the FC's were just my phone acting up but i reflashed it and still the same thing. and the camera is just too average. i even tried Camera ZOOM FX, nothing but a black screen. and i love to send and receive mms but this is just too much

For some reason APNs can't be changed on anything except for the stock ROM. They never save, and just disappear after modifying/creating a new one.

I thought we could use Go SMS instead of the stock SMS app to get MMS. Wrong???

MIUI ran horribly with it's stock kernel, could be the way init.qcom.post_boot.sh or init.d scripts are set up. Tried it with stock kernel to see if WiMax worked. It doesn't work with either kernel. MMS is a no-go. Noticed APN would disappear if I put "00" for MNC. Other than that it stuck after replacing the build.prop and apn-conf.xml files.
Pulled the camera.apk from disarmed toaster and panorama works as well as contains more settings options.

Yup. 4G should be sorted out soon. MMS on the other hand....well, we all know how MMS is for VM on AOSP ROMs.

My question is why. I have done some devving on cricket phones, and some of them can be a pain in the ass, but I have never seen so many developers either stumped or too lazy to actually dig in and figure it out, I simply don't have time, which is why I tend to disappear.
No offense but free devving doesn't put food on my table and I work a shit ton, and am also getting my masters.
If somebody actually figures out the exact problem but can't fix it ill do it myself, but I simply don't have time to do it. The only reason I'm around now is because my grandma died so I had to take a trip home and deal with that.

as i am no developer (so pardon any ignorance) but i've read around that with VM and Sprint, for their mms to come through they go to a proxy. i'm only thinking, if other developers got it to work on the sense 4 port, with a little more research it could be done for MIUI

All of those settings are accessible via system/etc/apns-conf.xml which we have tried unfortunately that does not fix the issue. It is most likely an issue in an apk, however being that once again I have almost no time, I can't debug the issue.
