Root [Sprint/Cricket] Won't wake from sleep

I just got the phone on Monday. Rooted to restore app data, but it's still running stock.

Twice now, about once a day, I will try to wake the phone, and nothing happens. It just sits there. I tried waiting, tried using the home button instead, tried holding down the power button... No change. A battery pull fixes things, but I'm going to wear out the back cover taking it off all the time.

This happened to me today for the first time. My SG3 is stock Verizon. I had been using my phone normally at work. I put the phone in my purse as usual. The next time I looked at it - maybe 45 minutes to an hour later - it would not turn on. Pulled the battery, and it booted up just fine.

This is the first real problem I've had with my GS3 - otherwise it runs great, excellent battery life, no signal problems, etc. I don't want to have to exchange it.

You may be right since its a new phone with a different version of android, but all of my apps are ones I've had for quite a while so I'm skeptical. Had another freeze this morning, waited 10 minutes. No change. But in frustration I held down home + power button and it rebooted. So got to skip the battery pull.

The only apps I had used between last night's freeze and now was handcent, Facebook, and dolphin.

I was wrong. Still fails to wake up once or twice every few days. Could i have a hardware problem? Followed root instructions in sticky to the letter, running stock rooted ROM. Nothing special done to phone since buying it, but nothing i do makes the issue go away. I even tried a factory wipe then just ran the phone a few days with none of the data from my EVO restored, still happens. Phone just sometimes won't wake up no matter what buttons i push. Have to hold power button for 10 secs to reset, then it's fine again for a few hours to a few days. Hellllppp!

Try a clean install. It sounds like something went wacky when you installed something.

Same thing was happening to me, noticed it happened mostly when I didn't have any internet access going and suspected it was being caused by an app trying to connect to the internet. After one forced restart, phone booted with a notice that Facebook had crashed. Tried to uninstall it and found that now it's non-optional (booooooo!). So I deleted the data from the Facebook app, and soon it prompted me to enter my Facebook login info (though I hadn't even started the app!). I left the login info blank and cancelled out. Have not had the unwakable sleep problem since!
