Root [ROM] MTDEV-CM9 build 20130120 [BETA]

Yeah but my phone wasn't on the charger. I keep the radio on during the night, and it only goes down to 70%-75%. Never seen it go to almost dead until last night.

My yahoo mail and WordsWithFriends apps keep syncing, way to often. I turned off data and I loose about 4% overnight. And that's with me reading to put me to sleep.

Wow g60, you are doing an amazing job bro. I'm about to switch back to your cm7.2 in a few, but anyway I thought you had the cam starting to hicup tho. Is there anyway I could help?

Sure take your pick

1. Get Motorola to release the Camera source code (then it would be solved)

2. Get me a faster workstation sure 25.28Ghz is solid for CPU but still takes 32 minutes to build CM9. I could go for Dual 6 core @ 3.46Ghz = 41.52Ghz then we would be talking :) Dell has one on sale for about 3.5K.

3. Give me more hours in the day (see 2.)

4. Enjoy the ROM :D

Seriously though I am still working on the camera. The problems is we need to build the camera files from source, since Motorola never released the source it's darn near impossible to do. We can not just copy over the Gingerbread library files and expect them to work, since they where all prebuilt for Gingerbread, and ICS changed the way the camera talks to Android.

Most the new phones with CM9 have a fully supported ICS released for their phone. What I am working on is decompiling our libcamera files from our Froyo Rom with hex-rays and going to try and use tjstyle's camera source files he edited from dzo based on what hex-rays tells me. I have also contacted Dorregaray as he has done the same thing for HP Tablet and has managed to make it work. I am not sure how long it's going to take, or if I am going to have any real success. But know this is my only focus right now.

Also I don't plan on making any more changes to the ROM as I feel this is as stable as it's going to get based on our hardware from Motorola. So this will be the last release until I solve either of the (3) issues on the front page, HDMI, Camera, or USB Tether. Also by adding back in the rmt_storage it looks to have solve the proximity issue with calls as well. I have not had any issues talking on phone and moving the phone from my head. Each time the screen turns on as is should.

The point I was making is that every ROM or build I have used since last year has never drained the battery overnight until this particular build. I was asking whether anyone else had this issue with this build. I might just go back to the 10-22 build.

I've had zero problems with battery life and have used the last 6 or 7 builds/updates of this killer quick efficient rom. I dig it. Thanks to G60 for working like a madman on this whole build and now tackling the camera.

..maybe just glitch in radio or some other downloaded app, etc?

Like I said, I had just flashed the ROM and went to bed. Nothing more than stock apps. I wish someone would just help with the issue I'm having instead of bragging how well the ROM is working for them. :banghead:

Thanks g60madman for all your hard work. How is battery life compared to CM7? On CM7 if wifi is on phone does not do deep sleep. Also, if both wifi and bluetooth are on, phone uses 100% CPU. Is the same thing happening on CM9, or is it better now? If this is still an issue, I think it can be added to the 3 items above as a fourth item.

Do you have better battery stats? It will show any wake locks, I don't know of any other app that will pull the information. In the reloaded thread, Whyzor posted a free version. E would need to start with the wake locks. I just know what it was on my phone. I do know the email app would try to sync sometimes, and fall, and try again. I'll look for the link to BBS And see if it's still live, but I'm at work and may have to wait until I get home.

I know we can get frustrated, and I know I miss stuff sometimes. I think the point was the ROM works for most, therefore it's not the ROM.

Glad to see my suggestion of looking at what DOR did on the touchpad maybe helped you get ideas for a fix. He recently got video recording working too. Excited to see development happening.

The lock screen shortcuts were not sticking on the 10/25 build and on the 10/28 build they stick. This rom is perfect I completely agree on you're decision to not do any more updates till the camera,HDMI,and tethering are fixed. Thank you G60 for all you're hard work!

Thank you, I will try that. Just flashed the 10-28 build, so I'll have to let you guys know how my battery is doing in the morning. Also disabled Email, Voice Dialer and Talk (I never use them anyway) so maybe that will help as well. I found the option to slide across the screen to adjust brightness in the 10-28 build, so I apologize for asking about that earlier.

Anyone have screen rotation working on 10/28? I flashed it right over 10/25 intead of clean install this time around, and screen rotation doesn't seem to be working. I'm wondering if I borked it. :D

works fine for me, though if you want it to rotate the screen on the launcher you have to go to settings>launcher>general and click auto rotation

G60 and MTDEV I would like to give you guys a heartfelt Thanks for making the Triumph a better phone. I applaud your dedication. Sadly :)(almost want to cry:() I have to move not necessarily to a better phone, but to a carrier that offers cheaper service. I really like the Triumph. Once I sell my 3 Triumphs, I will be going to Republic Wireless and the Motorola Defy xt. I am offering the phones locally, but if you or MTDEV needed one or more I would give you guys first dibs. I wouldn't be able to give it/them to you as the wife would skin me alive, LOL. Let me know. I will poke my head in from time to time to see how you are coming along with camera, etc.

Sorry to see you going, but I totally understand. It's all about $$ these days and lack there of. As for the phones I think Team MTDEV is set right know. You take care brother, we will always be here and there will always be a seat at our table :)

Hmm, yeah, guess mine is borked. Mine only works in that setting, but once I exit out of there, rotation doesn't work.

Don't every flash on top of another ROM this is what the problem probably is. Always do a full wipe & dalvik each time you load.

Yeah, guess it's wipe time, thanks. :D

Is there any way you could replace the Sense multitasking with the stock ICS multitasking? I'm sure I speak for a good amount of people when I say I prefer it as the stock. If it's not your plan to change it back, could you at least release a side update with the stock multitasking, as it's the only thing keeping me from updating right now.

Thank you so much for all the hard work you've been doing.

I hope the Defy xt has a big battery. I do like the idea, though. I know a guy that bought a OV and never set up the cell side, just uses a VOIP thing. I am lucky enough to be grandfathered in, and I am thankful for that.

I wonder how hard it would be to Root-that-bit?

Q_Bert_Ds, the multitasking in the most recent ROMs have reverted multitasking back to ICS stock. Try the 10/28/12 ROM.

I had a battery drain with 10-25, but it turned out that the CPU was clocking at the default speeds and not my normal underclocked settings. You might want to check to make sure that your cpu is set at speed that you run normally. I was using system tuner using init.d scripts to set the speed at startup. Unfortunately, this does not always seem to work with cm9. I switched to apply after boot completed.

You can also check data usage. That might help you pinpoint alternative causes of battery drain. I don't think the battery stats app is fully functional.

I don't think you mention whether you did a complete wipe before flashing the new rom. Not wiping can cause problems.

In any case, other than cpu settings issue, i have not noticed any other unusual battery drains from 10-25 or 10-28.

Good luck.
