I used my phone as a wifi hotspot to connect the Nexus to the internet whilst on the go. I was probably surfing for about half an hour or so and in that short time I racked up about 200 Mb!!! How is this possible? I wasn't even streaming music or watching videos, just surfed a few websites like ebay etc. and a bit of Facebook... I was hoping to do this regularly as the nexus is wifi only obviously, but if it uses this much data my data plan on the phone will not last very long! Any ideas?

Help Data usage when tethered to phone.

Maybe some background syncing was going on without you knowing it. There is an option in 'Data Usage' to set which AP's are mobile hot-spots. Supposedly it limits certain data usage while connected to that AP. Can't say how useful it is or isn't but I haven't seen any huge data usage while using my mobile hot-spot.

Facebook pages usually have a lot of graphics and photos can burn up bandwidth like crazy ... a movie can be almost a Gigabyte!
