What do you think the battery life will be like on the Nexus 4?

Just wanted to find this out. The Nexus 4 is basically a rebranded LG Optimus G with vanilla Android. The LG Optimus G had about average battery life with 5 hours and 15 minutes in a web browsing test. Do you think the Nexus 4 will improve on that, since it doesn't have LTE and runs vanilla android?

Anyhow, i would assume the battery life would be a little better just because it is the cleanest version of android out there. However, i am a little disappointed that they didn't make it bigger, i feel they could of expanded on the battery some to make it stand out from the rest.

I am an android fan who has the S3 and wants to switch to the Nexus 4 but this non-removable battery is an issue

I have always gotten by until 6 or 7 p.m. then switched batteries

Would you definity not switch to the Nexus 4, OR realizing u don't know me, might you give a reason to still get it, maybe telling me that u know some people who have gone thru this dilemma maybe with a ONE X or iPhone, but have faired ok.

I, personally, will not buy a phone with a non-removable battery. To me, how long the battery lasts is irrelevant to whether it should be removable or not. You still end up plugging the phone in at some point and you still have to plan ahead for battery use/life at some point, if not daily. Razor Maxx lasts a long time--also takes a long time to fully charge. I don't like having to sit and wait or plan half a day in advance to make sure I'll have whatever requisite amount of battery life I will need during that period. I'm like you: need a charge, spend thirty seconds swapping the battery. Plus you can still spot charge if necessary, so you get everything at the cost of nothing. Too convenient and easy on the nerves having an extra battery or two to give it up. Same story with sd cards. They are so small and cheap now that why wouldn't you include the option.

Not that know anything about it but I've read many reviews in my Quest for the Perfect Phone and it seems that the LTE radios are power-hungry. IP5 reviews stated that this is why Apple waited so long. So, maybe this a factor that would lead to greater duration?

Maybe this isn't true anymore. Comments?

I'm sure a repair shop can swap it out if it goes bad.

I'm also hoping that the new OS + no LTE antenna will = a pretty long battery life.

I am expecting better than that. There is no bloat running, plus LTE is a much bigger battery hog than HSPA+

I tend to think battery life should be good. Compared to the GSM Galaxy Nexus, it has a larger battery (2100 vs 1700mah), it has a very efficient processor in the S4, and it is still just GSM/UMTS, so the radio drain shouldn't be much different.

I guess the IPS panel might use more juice than a pentile display? I suspect the N4 will continue on the GNex's tradition of substantial screen-on battery drain. It's just a lot of pixels to light up.

I usually get 24-36 hours out of my GNex before I feel like I need to charge it. If the N4 did the same, I'd be pretty pleased. If it did better, great.

Something odd here. Looking at the picture of the phone apart the LED appears to be closer to the center of the phone/below the lens. While the image of the phone on the Google Play site shows the LED above the lens. ?????

I didn't see any LED on the play store images, but the LED is in fact below the screen in the center.

On the Play Store image the LED is the small circle just above the lens which is just above the "N" in Nexus.

battery should be exceptionally better than my Verizon S3. this thing is a nightmare. Between searching for LTE, the screen, and all the wakelocks my phone battery typically runs down by the minute.

I don't do the spare battery thing. Not sure why, but I figure I can carry a charger the same as I could carry a spare battery. So this whole non-removable battery is a non-issue for me.

Some of the early reviews have been disappointed with the battery life, while others have said it's better than average. Given that the review Nexus 4's don't have final software, this could improve. It could also simply be due to wherever the reviewer lived. I suppose we won't know for sure until the phone is out on the market and everyone starts reporting battery life.

I have the Evo 3D and every review on this phone cries about terrible battery life. With auto brightness, moderate usage (wifi, 3g, texting, reddit, facebook, some gaming), and juice defender I make it through a day easy. Battery life is extremely subjective and depends what you do with the phone. If you're playing games all day obviously the battery won't last very long. As has been mentioned the reviews were based on beta software so the phone can only get better from here. Not worse.

Yeah. I was pretty much on the same boat with a Pantech Burst. All the reviews said it had terrible battery life. With LTE off I was able to make it through the day consistently with moderate use (music in my commute, some web browsing during my breaks, light gaming).

I suspect a phone in the hands of a reviewer is getting a lot of screen-on time. The battery life when in use is probably not great because of the huge display it is driving. This is true of the GSM GNex, too. Screen-on life isn't impressive, but in general the battery life is acceptable.

Yea the poor battery life is a disappointment; tempted to go with razr hd max or note ii just for a nice big battery. I could live with lte on at&t but the primary reason I hate my current phone is poor battery life when I travel.

I'm planning to get a Note 2 with my tax return and use both. I'm such a nerd.

The battery live seems to be neither good nor bad so far - some reports say it doesn't last two hours, others say it's good for more than a day.

I think it's the display (more pixel than the iphone!) that sucks the not-so-small 2100mAh dry that fast - or is the S4 Pro such a monster, too?

The S4 Pro is supposed to be very battery efficient. It's definitely the screen that sucks all the battery. Screen off time will be really good with this phone I imagine. Once again this is still beta software as well. Wait until the official 4.2 release before you judge it and even then give it another month or 2 and there will be a million custom ROMs, which can do wonders.

That is the problem with having such a big, awesome HD screen, it is going to suck some power. I'll take it though. Just hope it gets me through a 4-6 hour heavy usage or 10+ hours with little use (work)

Shouldn't drain as much as super amoulded. That's what I've heard at least
