Root [ROM] EvilKingdom - Stock Rom De-Odexed/Zipaligned.

Google Search may have been removed from the rom. (I don't recall if it was one of the bloat ware apps I removed.

You can find it on the market it. ;)

what you forgot to include is that in order for the button to work the apk must be moved to the system/app folder and renamed GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk

perhaps your next update should be fully stock and allow the end user to choose what stays and what goes. it would certainly alleviate requests for removed apps. just a suggestion.

Unfortunately there will likely be no more updates to my rom. I had lost my job a couple weeks back and due to other financial issues, I can no longer keep my Boost service. As a result I am also selling my phone. So in the end I won't have anything to run my roms on. :(

Damn Apache, sorry to hear that. It's tough out there right now, as I'm sure you probably already know. Keep your head up man. Thanks for all your work -- you got me rooted as soon as I got my phone. Hope to see you back.

Google Search doesn't pop up, but voice search does. Voice search is installed; It works just fine.

The search button works in Play, but not on the home screen. I use that feature a lot, as it is a lot easier than opening Chrome and waiting for the page to load.

So should I do this?

I wanted to add that Apache's rom works on Sprint Design devices flashed to Boost. I flashed my Sprint one to Boost today and flashed his rom using CWM. The nice thing is that APN settings need not be messed with at all. Everything works out of the box. Talk, text, mms and net.

Sorry to hear about your predicament Apache. Wish you the best of luck.

Well the only new news is old news now. I got a new part time job. So now my phone service is back. BUT, I am already thinking of saving up to upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy S2. Not just because the rom community here is stalled, but because that phone is a MUCH better phone then this one. I may be able to resale this one for $190-$200. But first I would have to get the replacement phone since I do not have another to switch too. Thus I can't sell it (on eBay anyway) since the end user would expect to be able to use the phone soon after he got it plus PayPal STILL holds my payments received from ebay. So it may be awhile.

So for now I haven't really changed the phone's configuration beyond the power on splash screen. Plus other two family members in my house have the Sprint version of the S2, so I now already know the phone I would be upgrading too and I still want the S2. :D

Hello everyone. I hope someone is still checking this thread and this post is OK here. I'll tell you what I'm confused about but first let me tell bout my phone. I bought a used but in great condition Boost EVO Design 2 wks ago. I've never owned an android phone but I own a Ifs tab and my son has one that I rooted for him. Anyway for 7 days now I have read and researched everything I could find about root for this phone. So much so that I've actually become more confused.. lol. Saw the first or older I guess way. Then a newer guide. Then this way here. Also a way with the kingdom utility. Each had disadvantages and advantages. I've read about the main very issue and I guess that's the one thing that scares me a little. Even though I see there is a way to fix it and I kinda understand what there saying. But I'm trying to avoid that issue. You see my phone is fully up to date. So I'm not sure if the files I have will not create that problem for me? I think I have the latest ones You can find though. My phone is soft very 1. 11. 653. 0/ Sense 3. 6/ H Boot 1. 30. 0000/ Pro 61009.. Anyway I see where Apache may or may not still be supporting this? Maybe moved on to new phone? But overall I'm getting the feeling that maybe Ive come in to late on this. Man I really hope not. Can't afford a new phn. Besides I like this one. Except for the bloat and no root. So I guess I'm asking if anyone will be here to help with any questions and help sort out the right downloads for my version?? I don't want to unlock just to find I have the main very problem and I can't fix it. Its over my head. I apologize for being so long winded but I wanted to explain myself. So please forgive me. And thank you all for the work you have done. Can't say that enough. Learned alot especially from Apache and 2fast post's so Apache if your around do you think this will still work for me with all my updates? Or anyone? Or are the designs glory days over? :( Thanks

This rom is pretty outdated now. I originally made this to fill a void from lack of custom roms. But that has since changed and I have stopped working on this rom. I would recommend you try some of the other roms that some of the more experienced rom makers around here have made. They will be more up to date and better then this one. ;)

Sorry for the bump, but letting everyone know that I am in the process of flashing the phone back to stock for re-sale. I missed a boot payment but this time I was able to switch to sprint and got a Samsung Galaxy Nexus (not the latest, but but better specs then the Design due to the bigger screen, better camera, and dual core CPU among other things).

So as of now I will no longer be able to provide any significant support in this section of the forum since I will soon no longer own this phone. Once I got the phone stockified, I will put it on eBay and say goodbye to it. :p

EDIT:

For anyone interested to know, I got the stock RUU exe to flash this phone back to stock (including radio and hboot which can't be done anywhere else due to S-On) to an older version then what I had. I used that CWM ZIP I modified awhile back to alter the misc partition version string to 1.0. Then flashed stock rom from within CWM. Then flashed recovery back to stock and relocked bootloader.

RUU installer now thinks the phone has 1.0 firmware and is proceeding to flash it. So there you go. That's the path to flashing a completely older firmware by simply tricking the RUU via the version string. So for those with messed up radio settings could probably use the RUU to flash it to stock no matter what version they have! :D
