Root [ROM] MidnightRom: Sense 1.5.4

I just wanted to thank everyone here for all there help. I am sorry to say but I'm going to be taking this phone back. I did all the tweaks (turned phone into EVO 3d and all other tweaks and it seems to have not made any difference in the phone signal jumping all over the place and i have missed and had alot of droped calls and sms and mms dont work half the time. The way i see it is i paid $300 dollars for this phone and it just seems to have to many issues. The custom roms are great but not perfect they all seem to have some kind of bug. If im going to pay $300 for a phone i expect it to work specially sms and mms and 4g at least they say its 4g anyways. So at that note I'm going to get the samsung galaxy S2 tomorrow on t mobile which i have never had any problems with just saying and its way easier to root and mod. So once again thank you all for all of your help and good luck with the EVO V so called 4g BYE all and thanks again..

Hi, is anyone else having issues with WiFi spontaneously turning off? I use Unlock at Home to disable the lockscreen when I am connected to my home wifi network. Always worked fine with stock ROM, but after root + s-off and installing midnightrom 1.3.5 I cannot get the wifi connection to stay active. I have watched the phone sit idle for 10-15 mins with the screen off, suddenly the screen flashes on for a second and shows the HTC lockscreen, then the screen turns off. That seems to be the moment the wifi connection is lost, but it always comes back as soon as I unlock the phone. It's just really annoying. Anybody know how to fix this? Maybe something with LeeDroid tweaks? I don't know what to do.

I had this issue heres how i fixed it.... being FAST! as soon as you touch weather and it brings up the weather and it loads up weather CLICK HOURLY!!!! or 4 day forecast! BE FAST might take you 2 - 3 tries... but AS SOON as you get through it skips the sound and you can then hit the options button and change back to no sound.

Thanks yea i found out this works also if you just turn of the mobile network in settings it does not allow the weather app to update and then you can go into settings and turn it off. Either way works, but thanks again.

Have you tried reflashing the ROM and testing to see if it happens before you've restored any of your settings? That'd be my first step -- see if it's a problem with the 'vanilla' ROM or whether there is some user data or app that is causing it.

Alright, this is getting really annoying.
My kernel tuner settings will randomly change for no discernible reason. Through various updates of this ROM, including the latest, sometimes I'll unlock my phone to find it incredibly slow.
I go into kernel tuner to find it has disabled one core and set the other one to max at 384.
Other times I'll launch it out of curiosity to find it has overclocked me as high as it will go, and set the minimum above what I had it.
Various other combinations have occurred, and I have tried and failed to find a reproducible cause. (Yes, tried a complete wipe and flash.)
Maybe it's my governor setting? (ondemand)
Anyway, I guess my question is pretty simple: WTF?

EDIT: It just happened again, as I was writing this! Disabled one core and overclocked the other. Argh.

So, in summary, you have set it to restore with ini script, and set the minimum to 432, correct? I will try that and see if my settings change without my permission again.
If it doesn't work, I may have thunk up a workaround - set my settings the way I want them, then revoke kernel tuner's root permissions. My thinking is that if it tries to change something after I do, it won't be able to. Thank you for your very thorough reply :)
Oh, and out of curiosity, what are you doing up at 4:30 in the morning? lol
I uninstalled kernel tuner, I been using Rom Tool Box. It saves my settings, and my battery life has a lot better too.
I tried it. It's very nice software, but it does waaaaay more than I need it to. It's like installing Windows just so I can get Notepad.

From what I can tell this rom is completely broken. No amount of switching kernel tuning apps has fixed the cpu clocking down to 384mhz after a day or so and it can't be fixed without a restart.

Uninstalling and back to stock or a different ROM until this gets fixed.

This is not a kernel tuner issue, I uninstalled it and tried different apps, but it still keeps happening.

right. happens to you, and you alone, so it's a rom issue. completely broken. all aboard the logic train.

Yea man, idk what to say i spent several hours trying to fix that shit and just saw today it was all f***** whacked out again, It happened randomly, I've been checking it a few times a day and this is the first time it happened after awhile but whatever I'm done trying. I admit defeat lol but you have a very good point on your workaround theory! Sounds like a very plausible fix. On the 4:30 am topic, i didn't intend to stay up so late but was randomly determined to try and fix kernel tuner, but i failed and work sucked the next day lol thought my heart was gonna blow up from absurd amounts of coffee. Regardless keep me posted on your workaround i would like to hear if it works or not. Thanks

Welp, the upping the minimum idea didn't work, and neither did my revoke permissions idea. It disabled one core, low-clocked the other. I think it was punishing me for trying! Grr.

For those arguing about it being the ROMs fault, I don't have enough empirical evidence to say what is at fault. Although, the fact that the settings changed without Kernel Tuner having root permissions strongly suggests it's not Kernel Tuner. But it could be Anthrax, it could be some random app. Even if it is something in this specific ROM, stop acting like it's on purpose. I don't think xthedakmanx is sitting at his desk, twiddling his fingers, eyes lit evilly by the glow of the computer, saying "excellent" like Mr. Burns... or something.

I did not restore anything. I learned the hard way that restoring ANY data will disable MMS in pretty much every VM ROM. So I've got MMS working (knock on wood), but now I can't keep my Wi-Fi connection active when I am at home.

This is the cleanest stock ROM with all the best features. Would've loved to see it with Sense 4.0/4.1/4+, more Jelly Bean features, or a straight up port of Jelly Bean... everything on this ROM works if you flash it correctly. Only thing wrong is the kernel changing settings on it's own.

xTheDakManX, come back, lol.

Its been not even two weeks since the last release. Be patient for updates.

I've cleaned up a few posts here. Let's not get distracted. Just so everyone knows, it's considered rude to ask rom developers for updates or eta's. They work at their own pace on their own time and give us their work for free. Let's show appreciation rather than apply pressure. :)

I'm also having overclock issues. CPU0 will randomly clock to a min of 384 and a max of 3840(!) but it just sticks at the min. Other problems include the tuner ignoring the settings I just applied.

I've tried wiping everything for a clean install of the ROM but it didn't help. I haven't been able to nail down a pattern for when this happens just yet.

It's felt like a lot longer, but I guess I've been pretty inattentive. I'm used to updates every day/every other day like it was before, it spoiled me. I definitely do appreciate the developer, and I didn't realize I was being rude. For that, I apologize.

None of the other ROMs really appeal to me, so I feel stuck until some fixes are made. That's probably all I really should have said in the first place. :).
