Basically i just want to know which one is better to have. will both allow all the roms to flash or are roms gonna be dependent on one of them in order to flash. my friend got an S3 and he wants me to do to the root for him and install a custom rom lol you know the usual. im the only one that knows how to do that for my friends. anyways twrp looks pretty good but cwm is the usual so does it actually matter which have. also id like to install a custom recovery first, create a backup, and then root, so i can always just restore to stock unrooted if he ever needs it

I was reading through Verizon's section a little while ago to prepare myself for the release of ours and seen something about twrp being required to install a certain rom. I believe it was nightlies. Don't know if it was or still true but that's just another plus for twrp for me.

Yes you are the right some roms do require twrp I know that on my rooted Kindle twrp is a must

i see that i you first have to be rooted you install twrp. i want to be able to create a backup first then root. and cwm has the problem where the updates will erase the recovery for the stock one unless you root it by flashing the zip within the thread.. hmm what if you dont accept the updates
