I'm impressed with the battery life so far. I run the phone pretty hard all day, from 9 a.m. until about 2 a.m. with a solid 8 hours of streaming music to a bluetooth speaker while surfing 4G, downloading and playing with apps and I still have yet to completely kill it. The closest I came to was last night and I still had 15%.

My wifi reception has been fine but I only use wifi at home so that's no indicator, I guess. I also have not noticed a the UI as being sluggish but I'm coming off an iPhone 4 so I really don't know what to compare it to on other Android platforms.

Describe your battery life vs. usage type. Maybe you just got a dud?

You know honestly, I think the biggest issue is not technical at all. I know all phones have some quirk.. I just think the zinger is that i paid nearly 700 bucks for the phone and I expect it to exceed my expectations lol

Is your 4G reception low? At home I get about 2 bars or 3, and it seems that that really seems to drain the battery. I could average about 14 hours at home on my Maxx. At school I get a full 5 bars and then the phone becomes almost unstoppable, I might even say I'd get a full 24 hours of heavy usage and then some with the way it goes in that reception.

Battery life on the RAZR HD is pretty impressive so far. I upgraded from the RAZR Maxx and am seeing fairly identical battery life between the 2 phones. I bought the HD thinking I would be sacrificing some battery life to save money and that if it didn't work out I could always trade it out before the trial period ended. It's been 5 days so far and I have no plans to return the RAZR HD and will save myself the money.

I have wifi on all the time and good 4g reception and right now am charging my phone every other day and usually have 30% or more of a charge when I plug it in to charge it, so I think I could go three days without having to charge the phone right now...

My usage, I would say, would be rated as a "normal" phone user...some texting, some calls, some games, some email, some social media, etc... but nothing too extreme...(maybe 20 texts per day, 10 calls per day, 1 hour of gaming per day, send/receive 30 emails per day, some twitter, no facebook). So far, I've been very impressed with the battery life of this phone...and again, this is not the Razr HD Maxx, just the regular ole Razr HD.

Now midway through second day on one charge and I have 45% remaining. Couldn't do that with the Galaxy S3.
Very pleased with the MAXX HD

Ditto. My usage is probably light-medium. Moderate texting, reading emails, checking FB, weather, and running some other apps, a couple calls. Mostly on wifi (in my home).

Currently, my battery is at 39% - it's been just shy of 47 hours since it was last charged. With my S3, I would have charged it at least 4 times in that same time frame.

Edit - this morning I am down to 18%, after 64+ hours since my last charge. Will probably plug it in at some point today.

I have a Maxx HD, coming directly from the regular Maxx, and the battery life is TERRIBLE in comparison. I am seeing the same issues as the OP.

I am a heavy email/text/internet user, and I'm barely getting 6-7 hours of it. With the original Maxx, even with heavy usage like that I would get 10 hours at a minimum. With this one, I take the phone off of the charger around 8 am and by 2 I'm down in the 20% area. It's not comparable.

With Gingerbread (I never accepted the ICS update) I had most of my programs set to shut down after 2 minutes, and I don't care what anyone says, that worked. Not having that ability here has been a drag, and I'm ready to return the phone. Like the OP, I too paid full price and I'm not the least bit happy. Plus, ICS SUCKS!!!!!

That's a fair assumption, I also came from the regular max to the razr HD (non-maxx).

Through various benchmarks that do video, IIRC it was only 45mins less runtime. I'm not so sure that I have been seeing that.

One quirk was the time I mentioned above was leaps and bounds above my first two days, but 5:22 screen on-time was on the JB leak.

Usually screen on-time is what most people look at. Heck, I could run my regular maxx down to 10% in less than 9 hours :D.

I came here looking to see if others were having the same issue and it seems mixed. So here is my problem.
Ive had my Maxx HD for less than a week, and my battery life has been iffy at best. I charged my phone last night and when it got to 100% (around 10pm) I unplugged it and went to sleep. I woke up this morning at 4am and the battery was down to 80%, and thats with zero use from me during the night.
I went to work, used it minimally (just texting, no web, no music, no video) and by 2pm it was down to 49%
From 2pm until 7pm I texted a good amount (with the screen dimmed) but again, nothing else, just texting. At 7pm I had to plug in my charger because the battery had dropped to 9%

This is definitely not the battery life I was expecting. And theres no way I could watch 18 seasons of The Simpsons, or drive cross country using gps, or whatever other things were claimed of this battery.

I love the phone itself, I think its a huge improvement over my last one, but the battery seriously concerns me and Im hoping its user error, or I forgot to charge it for 5 days before the first use, or whatever. Any suggestions? Please. :)

Thanks

that definitely doesnt sound right . I currently had my phone off the charger for about 3 hours now from 100% only drained to 89% and I placed voice calls texting and used the web browser , phone is also currently using wifi.
