Morrowind on Android

First I'd like to start out saying I'm new so if i posted this in the wrong place don't berate me about it :p Anyways I was wondering if it is possible to get Morrowind to run on android because most phones can run games graphically superior to Morrowind(Earth and Legends) and we have seen that a console game can be ported quite well on android(GTA III). I do however doubt that Betheseda will actually think much less try this idea because of how they are always said to make games that are "broken" or severely bugged but i was wondering if maybe the mod community may try to take a crack at this :D The only problems i can possibly imagine with this idea(since i have a layman understanding of game design) are the button configuration being very awkward and that the game may suffer from constant loading screens since Morrowind is quite huge. Any input,ideas or explaining why this can't work would be greatly appreciated.
 
Well, the first major problem (in fact probably so major its preventing it from happening) is that you need to port the entire engine to Android. Impossible? Most likely not. But not without Bethesda's help (like actually making it or releasing the engine as open source....and the former is more likely to happen sadly). And since you would need to take the original source code, convert it to more Android friendly code top to bottom, and THEN debug it so it actually is usable (on top of fixing unwanted bugs originally in the game in the first place).

I mean, the amount of bricks that would be shat if the game was on Android would be enormous, but I'm thinking the biggest hurdle is the game engine itself. Without that, Morrowind for Android is nothing more than a pipe dream for us Elder Scrolls fans.

Not to mention any legal issues that would arise (I mean if it was an unofficial "mod").

I'm not too certain I would like playing Morrowind on a cell phone. The screen would just be too small.

A tablet might be better, but as other people have pointed out the controls would be really tough. Like how would you scroll through your inventory? Or pull up a spell?

I do really miss the levitation spells and massive jumping boots that you could use in Morrowind. So maybe something to resurrect the game might be kind of nice.

Previously I had hoped that Bethesda would actually give us Morrowind on Android themselves, but that hope was completely destroyed with time. Yesterday I looked up OpenMW who apparently have made huge amounts of progress on their desktop version. (they are creating an Open Source Game Engine for Morrowind) And 3 months ago had begun work on bringing it to Android! I believe we will see at least a playable beta by next year! So Exciting really!

And for all these noobs who can't seem to understand how it will be controlled? Have you folks never played GTA III for Android? or Minecraft PE? They have a handful of onscreen buttons. The way I figure, Morrowind would have one for weapons readying, one for magic readying, one to activate objects, one to attack, and one to open the inventory. The inventory itself doesn't have to be exactly he same, in my mind, I can already see an efficient set up for the UI. Afterall this is an entire port of the "Game Engine." The developers of OpenMW can do and change anything they need.

Of course development is so early they haven't even begun to make changes to the UI, but progress is being made.

I can't believe you read a post on a thread from 2014!
The idea was to let people re-visit the game on their phone casually, so I had planned to reproduce it exactly.

However the kick starter failed, so it's now just on hold until I find time to creep it forward slowly, or someone funds me to do the fallout 3 version on the phone!
