Root [PROJECT] Get MMS working on AOSP/AOKP/CM/MIUI builds!

don't know about an official link but here is one brought to you by the awesome people at android central... Galaxy S2 coming fashionably late to Virgin Mobile | Android Central

Upcoming Virgin Mobile phones

That's what I'm going off of. as well as the guy i get top-ups from.

With that said though. The S2 doesn't have sense (obviously)
But it is wimax so we might be able to use the mms.apk virgin releases it with. or look more into it as i'm sure people will have some trouble porting roms to this VM version.
Thank You both for the links

Is there any update as to the status of getting this working? It seems this has gone way off topic about new phones for some reason.

Not as far as I know. As the reason for new phones its the fact that it'll be a another Wimax device on VM so unless touchwiz does the same thing sense is doing for our evo vs we might be able to look at those mms configurations and possibly even the mms apk that is released with it.

did nobody even read my post?

Head to the paranoid android thread download the mms. Apk go to system/apps rename the mms. Apk there to mms.apk.backup copy/paste the new mms.apk from your sd card that you downloaded, change permissions to rw--r--r or however the thing is then.... Profit you can receive but not send mms.

I tried using a sense mms. Apk unfortunately it did not work so that option is out. If anybody else wants to push off this work, be my guest

Is it possible to install these side by side? The black themed one looks terrible and has less features than the stock messaging.

you can have both but installing the working one wont make the other one have mms 2... but if you want to use the ugly one only for mms and the other one for sms... it should work... though i dont know how the phone would handle showing notifications for the two when a message comes in

Obviously I meant using one for SMS and one for MMS. I would just disable notifications in the other one.

So how do I install these side by side? Just launching the APK prompts me to replace the current one. Can I just drop the APK into system/app or something?

okay... backup the original just in case... try to rename the ugly one to mms1.apk and add it (to system/app) with permissions and w/e but dont install... just reboot right after... if it keeps both we have no prob.. if not, ill try to play around with it 2morrow though i have min coding skills... right now im trying to theme it so it looks better (dont think i can pull of the real stock look but mabye i can do some good)..
