Root Another return to stock thread

Being rooted affect the swap? No. If Sprint needs to have some ## codes entered, then you need to have a rom that will support those ## codes. I know that MikG3.11 rom has that ability. Others do also, but dont know for sure which ones.

If you are not sure about the company denying service because of root, then unroot it.
Better safe then have them send it back to you without repair because of root. (I/we dont know where it is going right?)

When you say RUU, I think of the ruu file which will put a stock unrooted rom on phone....is that what you mean?

Edit: sorry, ocnbrze link to that rom also will support ## codes :) post 24

Okay, good to know!

Exactly...I have no idea who the actual company is that would repair/replace the phone since it's a 3rd party company that Target uses.

Yes, I would only look to be doing this to the phone that I send in after I do the whole phone number swap.

The main thing I want to do is not have my wife be without her phone since we just had our first child last week. Unfortunately it is her actual phone that needs to be repaired/replaced so that is why I am looking to do the whole phone number swap.

I know it would be hard to say for sure, but does anyone know what they are replacing the EVO 4G with since it is EOL if they do a complete phone replacement? My current warranty plan is $151.00 and above they repair the phone, and $150.00 and below they replace the phone.

I want to flash the stock RUU without turning S-off. I take it this is the correct file to flash? I'm only doing this to use the phone as an exchange for a new phone (LG Optimus G) since I am available for upgrade. Would keep my EVO for other purposes like a media device, but my charging port is about done. I'm lucky it still charges. So I just want to turn it in with a stock appearance, not worried about S-on or off.
Thanks

That file is not a RUU, it is a stock, rooted rom that will work for you if you desire. But, yes, this will look like stock:)

Perfect. I don't care if it is S-off. Just as long as it appears stock when I hand it over. Also, Anyone have the stock splash screen? I changed mine and would like to bring back the white one for the same reason.
Don't know if that rom will have the stock splash screen or not.
If not, I can try to find it for ya!
Do you mean the one that has the htc logo on the white screen?

Yes, It's the one right when you boot up the phone. White screen with black text that says htc evo 4g or something like that. I have no issues flashing from h boot. That's how I changed it to begin with. Thought I had a back up but can't find it. If unrooting brings that back then I don't care. Not going through the steps to unroot. I just want to fake that it's not rooted. It's just a trade in phone.

Roms can't (wont)change the splash screen Mikey. Its the one right before the boot animation.

Hell either have to flash it from h boot or run the ruu
Ah, good to know...and ya know, I should've known that when I flashed Smurfmod and my Splash screen was the same lol:D
Thanks !

I did see this:

[MOD] - Boot Splash Screen Images

Scroll down to where is says this:
Various Android Screens

and the first one sounds like it, but the link for the screenshot of it is broken.
So, I dont know if that is it...try it, it wont hurt eh?

so why do you want to unroot?

it looks like if you want to unroot then you will need to use this guide: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies.html.

and use this ruu:
RUU_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.54.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.0808_NV_2.15_release_220182_signed.exe

it is basically a two step process of flashing the s-on tool and then use the above ruu to finsih it.

but really there is no need to unroot. you can just run the ruu if you like.

I finally got my phone #'s swapped between mine and my wife's phone and now I am going to be sending it in for warranty work to a 3rd party (Target Mobile's extended service protection company...not sure the exact name of the company) company...so I just don't want to run the risk of them not doing the repair or replacing the phone since it is rooted.

I am hoping they send me a replacement phone since the plan is $151.00 and above they repair the phone, and $150.00 and below they replace the phone. All that is broke is the power button and the vibrate has stopped working. I am hoping they send me something a bit newer since the EVO is EOL.
