Root [CDMA] 3G Issues

I've flashed several roms for the first time recently.
The one consistent thing problem I see is that I never have 3G with any of them.
At first, I thought it might be the ROMS but 3G isn't on the "bug" list of any of them and since it's a problem with all of them (for me), I'm thinking it's something to do with my phone.
Maybe my settings are messed up? I'm not sure.

S-Off
HBoot 1.50
ParanoidKangdroid ROM
(I haven't done anything with radio or the kernel)

Any guesses? I've Googled it and can't find anything.

Could also be your location, could also be the radio you are on, just a thought. You can always take it in to a Sprint store and they can check it, they won't care if it is rooted so don't sweat it.

Do I flash a radio the same way I flash a ROM?
Do I have to do a full wipe and partition as well?
Any hboot or ICS/JB requirements for them?

Are you s-off? I probably should have mentioned that s-off is required. You don't have to do any formatting. You just rename the file to PG86IMG.zip and put on the root of your SD card (not in any folders). Then you reboot into your bootloader, and it will ask you to update. That's it. Then when you are booted back up, rename or delete the file on the sd card.

Where you might see an issue is between GB and ICS. If you have the GB build on your phone and want to flash the radio from the 2.89 (ICS) build, you may see issues. If that's the case, you may have to flash all the ICS firmware as well.

Hmmm, when I have more spare time, I suppose I will edit my radio thread to add instructions and possibly add some firmware downloads too. Might start a different thread for that! I have too many things I'm working on right now!!

Yes, I'm S-Off. I'm running JB 4.1.2 right now. Was thinking about flashing the 2.89 build. Do you recommend I proceed?

You can try it but I would make a nandroid backup first. Then if you have any problems you can restore. I think the rom you are on requires hboot 1.5 which is GB, so you cant really flash the ICS base.

It may work just fine taking the ICS radio but make a backup first in case you have any problems.

Which one do you recommend? Sounds like the 2.89 isn't your first choice.
My logic was that JB is the latest ROM so I'll use the 2.89 since it seems to be the latest one.
I have no experience or knowledge of radios so I'll defer to you guys with suggestions.
I'll make a nandroid though, just in case.

I haven't gone through and tried them yet. Haven't had a chance. It shouldn't hurt anything to try the ICS one, I was just saying it's possible that you will have issues running the GB base and the ICS radio. Heck, maybe it will be better. As long as you have a nandroid, I'd say go ahead and try it and let me know how it is! :)

Also, I think a lot of it just depends on your location. What might work well for one person, might be crappy for another.

I made this because people on the Evo V boards were looking for radios, so I was just helping them out. Me, personally, I haven't changed radios except when switching between the ICS and GB bases to flash different roms.

Tried uploading my nandroid and it still freezes on the splash screen. Don't know what to do now.

Help.

Hmm. Sorry I only have a second here. Go to this post: http://androidforums.com/cdma-evo-3...t-firmware-all-downloads-wip.html#post5221192

If you are using hboot 1.5 use the 2.17 file in that post. If you are using 1.58, use the 2.89 file in that post. See if that will get you back on track. I'm not sure why you got stuck. They have been working for other people!!

Thanks. I tried that. I'm using hboot 1.50 so I flashed the 2.17 radio.
Still stuck in a bootloop. I'm not sure what to do.

Edit: I just flashed the same ROM again and this time it loaded up correctly. Sweet.
I was unaware that I had to flash GAPPS again. Oops.

Whew! I'm glad you're up and running again! And if all else fails, you can always at least run an ruu to get back up and running! It returns you to stock but sometimes it has to do...

Before blaming the phone, or takingit in the Sprint, let me ask you this, have you check 3G everywhere and having the same issue, and have you done a speed test, to make sure it is speed issue, might be the icon issue.

All that hard work and my 3G still doesn't work.
At this point, I'm thinking it's the settings or something.
I can't figure out what it is though.

I've taken the phone with me to school and around town. It's my primary phone.
I can't get 3g anywhere anymore.

I have not done a speed test. I'm not sure how to do one.
Not sure what an icon issue is either. I'm open to trying it though.

Download the speedtest app from the PlayStore and post your results

You can't do the speed test if the 3g won't even show up though.

I'm not sure what I've done (and I'm sure it's things I've done) but my phone is slowly deteriorating away.
First no 3G, now GPS doesn't work. MMS won't function. I even reloaded nandroid and all the issues still exists.
These issues exists regardless of what rom I'm running.

Don't know what exactly has caused it and after nandroid failed, I'm out of ideas.
