My gallery takes about 2 minutes to load up the folder thumbnails and I believe this is due to it always loading pics from Facebook and Google+ by default. There is an option to change this to only show local content, but it seems to reset itself every time I open the Gallery. Does anyone know hwo to fix this?

I had a similar problem with mine. It kept synching the pictures I had in Picasa and like you said the local content option doesn't stick. I tried a few things and eventually got it. I went into settings, accounts, google, clicked on account name, and unchecked "synch Picasa web albums. The Picasa pictures were still in my gallery. I tried a few more things and eventually cleared the data for the gallery app (menu, settings, application manager, all, Gallery, clear data. That did it. I bet getting rid of Google+ and Facebook will be very similar.

I'd assume your issue arises from the FaceBook pics. I have both Picassa and G+ Linked to my Gallery and its silky smooth all the time. I don't have facebook, so have to assume that's causing your issues. And tbh, facebook 'stuff' for android is usually coded poorly and causes problems... I remember about 2 yrs ago when I installed the Facebook App and my phone instantly started to drain around 25% battery per hour.
