thanks guys

yes im starting to wonder that myself ....but the thought of a nasty great scratch on that lovely screen! is going to keep me awake at night :D

cheers

I'm pretty crazy when it comes to my phone looking pristine too but i don't put anything on my S3. No cover and no screen protector. It's all about paying attention and treating it right. I've had mine for 4 months and not a scrath on it. I keep it in my pocket and I don't put ANYTHING in there with it. When I grab it, I make sure I have a firm grip on it. Not hard really, just takes focus. I think you have to really be trying in order to scratch this thing. Those screen protectors are not only hard to get on just right but they detract from the screen so no way I'm using one.

Totally, I have no screen protector on mine, and it is so great! Had a protector on my Droid X, but by the end of the contract, I noticed that the protector was a little scratched up, but the uncovered parts of the front (I had the Verizon protector, it only covered the part with the LCD, left the rest of the glass uncovered) were still pristine, and that was the original Gorilla Glass. GG2 seems to be better, and I've had my phone since launch day with no protector, and the screen is still pristine. Just be careful with it, and you'll be fine.

I got the store to fit the protector since its a job I hate. However I love the S3 screen and hated the plastic on it until the day I took my phone out of my pocket and discovered a gouge out of the protector. Screen saved and plastic staying in placing, breathes sigh of relief.

I think it's normal to go through a few when fitting them, unless your in some kind of clean room there will always be dust in the air that can ruin your best efforts.

Not allot you can do about it, which is why i've never understood how anyone gets away with buying the expensive protectors which only include one and get it perfect first time.

Either their very lucky or they just accept whatever bubbles they get.

screen protectors all the time for me. The S3 slipped through my mitts a few weeks back and crashed on the driveway and resulted in some slight battle damage. The screen hit the ground / gravel and I was thinking that's it, but apart from a scag in the screen protector the screen was intact. I removed the screen protector and applied a new one and looks good as new. I've invested in a gel cover as this hides the few damaged areas.

I have no problem applying the screen protectors and the latest one I have on has no trapped air bubbles at all.

I have made a special trip to Verizon JUST to have them put the screen protector on. I let the staff go through 3 sheets, not me.

Same with my tablet, I had Best Buy put in on. It took 4 tries and 20 minutes.

+1

I did the same w/my PHOTON & INVISISHIELD screen protector.@ a cost of $20+,you bet I had them (BEST BUY) install it.
After almost a year w/the screen protector, it finally started peeling off(has a lifetime warranty) but, didn't feel like dealing w/it.
Anyway, I just took the thing off & trusted the GORILLA GLASS. Went for about two months of use & not a nick, pit, or scratch to be found.

Now that I've got another phone w/GORILLA GLASS (SGS III), I'm going bareback & after a month of use, same results, not a flaw to be found.
No more screen protectors for me, provided that the phone has GORILLA GLASS.

I buy the cheap ones with the ones you have to remove one side the place on screen but before I do those I put it in place where it needs to be then selatape it to one side to the phone so you can flap it over to wipe the screen of any dust remove the film cover wipe the screen then place the screen protector back on to the phone I will find the video off YouTube

I do it this way and get no bubbles or dust

I don't see a screen protector protecting any better than GG2 already does (especially if you don't do anything risky like put your keys on the screen). I do, however, see screen protectors really make the screen filmy, dull, bubbly, ugly.

They may have had their purpose with heavily-used (i.e. corporate) resistive screens with a stylus, but I can't see their purpose today.
