Here is a new idea that should receive alot of attention. The idea incorporates a cell phone and a regular digital sized camera together in one small convienant package.
Basically the camera would remain unchanged but built into the camera would be a cell phone. The cell phone would be part of the covering panel that is placed over the lense of the camera when it is not in use. Given the compact size of phones these days such as a Virgin Mobile phone the design would rather easy to incorporate.
What is great about this type of cross breeding is that phone and camera would be WiFi wired together so that pictures taken with the camera can be transmitted to the phone and to any person almost instantly.
Thes second function of the camera would be as a digital recorder that when linked through the cell phones Internet connection could be used as mobile monitoring camera that could then be linked to an email address. Once the person opens the email link they could view from the privacy of their home, a laptop or other hand held device what the person was seeing. This type of set-up would be great for the Twitter Generation who is always looking for their next Tweet or to take family members who make sick on a vacation where they would see first hand the accounts of the family that were able to go on vacation on a daily basis.
The cell phone would also double as the control pad for the camera for remote operation of the camera so that it could be set on a tripod with a motor driven steerable mount so that it could record happenings at the touch of a button.
Another version would have the phone system built into the camera itself where both technologies would share the same circuitry. The back of the camera would have a either a touch screen where a light pen is used to input the various functions,a small keypad that would flip up similar to how the Epson Printer panel folds up and down or a combination of both functions available in one package.
This compact design would allow you too become a "Get Smart" type of person where instead of talking to your shoe you would be talking to your camera instead.
