Mobile: Moto Defy.
System:Android.
Firmware: 2.2.2(preinstalled).
Warranty: Yes
Problem: I had rooted my defy using Superuser. everything was fine untill i deleted by mistakenly files from Titanium backup. Then i had to reroot as all app was forced closing. Every thing worked except my camera, cam recorder and video play back. they are working but i could just see black screen in front of me but things can be viewed (except video) in phone. i tried to restore to factory but couldn't solve it. tryed to clear cache from manage applications but no success. i had nandroid backup but it also failed :'(
Help 1: does anyone have the solution then please explain me in detail because i am a fool.
Help 2: How to bring it back to warranty?
Help 3: what is sbf ? will it help?
Thanks for everyone who is going to help and also t those who are reading this. even a link to solve the above problem will be appreciated. i tried all the method in all the forum that relates this problem. hopping for the best God bless....

Hello and welcome, freza080.

The Defy is well supported in ROM and also recovery downloads. "SBF" (system boot file) is used to restore the device's operating system to the original state it was in prior to the root exploit and any changes made while rooted.

I've placed your question in the Defy All Things Root sub-forum for more specific help on restoring your device, if that is the choice you make.

You can also try to fix the ongoing issues, but I am having some difficulty understanding some of what you've posted:

"... i had to reroot as all app was forced closing. Every thing worked except my camera, cam recorder and video play back. they are working but i could just see black screen in front of me but things can be viewed.."

If your camera is working, seeing a black screen would not be much of "..things can be viewed." I can only conclude that the camera and camcorder are not working at all.

I'd like to check back and help you, perhaps you can clarify a bit.

Meanwhile, the Defy has many ROMs out there if you want to flash one for a complete replacement of your OS (I have some updating of the Defy Root Guide to do).

Let us know which way you want to go, and we'll get you going on either an SBF, a ROM or fixing your issues as it is now (likely the most dificult ;)).

When the DEFY got its last (official) update I had the camera problem and the solution was to go into applications and then clear the data from the camera app.

Yeah, that's the most oft repeated advice for many app/widget issues in Android. I still am wondering if the OP's problems are deeper than that, though, given his other remarks about rooting and losing the T backups, resetting etc.

It sure is worth a try though. ;)

first my apology because i had posted it and i was not able to get into this post, as i forgot this forum's name :'( ..... thanks for replying. okay i will specify
problem: i had rooted my mobile. it worked fine untill i deleted some files , by using explorer n then my phone got stucked(hanged) and i had to restart. after restarting all application in MENU started getting forced close and superuser app was not there. so i planned to reroot as it will install superuser app and then i can also use nandroid backup if any other problem. all process got success but my camera which takes pic (as i can view it in my gallery after i take a pic) could not be viewed while taking , i mean the screen is black but it takes the pic and stores it but i cant view the image in screen while ""taking pic"" same with cam recorder it does record but i can't view it while it is recording and as the video playback is only giving sound, not the view, i cant see any video, nither from cam nor from video players. i had unrooted using superuser but still that fails. i did restore to factory after unrooting but no success. Sir i hope u got it now ? :( sorry again for not responding :'(

If there is no way to solve this problem then i would like to know step by step how to completely remove the evidence of "Root"(I am lil mad so i cant do it without exact help) as it will bring the phone back to warranty and i can simply give it back to Moto defy gallery(i made friends there because i know i am going to experiment B-) and they will handle the rest ;-) . infact they have became such a nice friend that my gf had scratched my phone with her diamond ring , not intentionally but by mistake within 4 day and they replaced it for new :D ) ....... theanks to all who is helping me :) and who is reading this :) .... O:)
