Root NEW LG Venice

Yeah I got it on Friday when I came home. I like it a lot. It's pretty fast, better then my warp. I have yet to see the 4G turn on, just the 3G so far. Might be the area I am in. Camera takes great pictures and video in HD720 is nice too. I really hope someone will pick one up that can root it. I'm not to thrilled with the look of the dialer and few other things. Once rooted I plan to theme it but I don't think I am gonna install a rom on it when one is made. Just gonna leave it stock and do a little them work on it. All and all the phone is great.

Just got mine a few days ago and agree it's much better than Warp which now seems to have been the source of all the dropped calls I was suffering! I still prefer to run GoLauncher and some of the other Go* apps. Never managed to root the Warp which still works over WiFi; but hoping to root LG Venice...

I only had problems with my warp when ever I was up in north Florida. I had it rooted and even has a custom rom that works great. I just got off the phone with Boost to get my Warp turned back on for my girlfriend to use so she does not have to deal with the little prevail screen and so little bit of memory any more. I love the Venice and look forward to getting it rooted soon I hope.

Ghost, looks like the Venice is not a 4G capable phone - 3G only from the Boost website. I'm not sure how this will influence my decision on getting it. I'm kicking around the HTC Evo Design 4g - Radio Shack has it online for $249 which is a pretty sweet price.

The Venice is definitely "sexier" and has a bigger screen and better form-factor imo, but the Evo has a slightly faster processor and 4g. And more than just you for support on this forums lol :D

I DO love the look of that damn Venice though man...

Decisions.

FWIW, I have the HTC EVO Design 4G and just got my wife the LG Venice. Have only had the Venice for a couple of hours, but it is so light, thin and smooth... and the bigger screen is awesome. I wanted 4G, so the Design gives me the data speed I was after. Both are a HUGE step up from the Samsung Prevail that my wife was using, and the ZTE Warp that I had.

The Evo Design actually has a faster processor, 4G WiMax and a better screen. The Screen is QHD (960x540) where the Venice is only 800x480. Either way it's a nice phone. I currently have the LG Marquee and it's a great Android phone. But I will be upgrading in the next few months. I've had my eye on the Galaxy S2 from Boost. Or Straight Talk's BYOD program. Straight Talk actually has way better service and faster 3G coverage than Boost. (My girlfriend has an Android on Straight Talk). But I use at least 20GB's of data a month and i'm afraid Straight Talk would have a problem with that. Sticking with boost is good if you have WiMax in your area. Sorry to ramble!

That's because the lg Venice is not a 4g phone

I just got my Venice from Boost & I have to say, I LOVE IT! The screen is HUGE (I just upgraded from the Samsung Transform Ultra). I was afraid to go from a slide keyboard to a touch screen keyboard but I'm getting the hang of it quite quickly. The screen is so vivid compared to all the phones I have had in the past. The glass they used for the screen is super. I am waiting on a gel case for it that I found on eBay (not many people have a case for this phone yet which bums me out) because this phone is very slim & slippery.

This is a great phone for me so far.

I currently have the Transform Ultra rooted (sucked before being rooted). I was looking the the LG Venice, Evo, or Galaxy III. I've read that LTE will be coming to Boost Mobile in the future so I think I'll go with the Venice. I use WiFi most of the time anyways. Plus 4G kills battery life.

Right now Best Buy has the Venice on sale for $179.99. It's a no brainer for me. I'm going to go pick one up today.

I like my Venice, the only bugs I see is after waking from lock I have to double tap the first thing I select to get it going. Sometimes programs just black out also. I would really like to be able to change the wallpaper on the lock screen too, anyone know how to do that? Other than that it is pretty nice and smooth, now that it's rooted I am a bit happier. Can't wait for some good dev's to pick up on it!

Edit: The double tapping at unlock isn't caused by the phone. It is because I have the experimental "Weather at unlock/ startup " checked on Fancy Widgets. Never used it before, you have to click one time to make the weather animation leave screen before you can use phone.
