Without a different launcher, is it possible to modify the Lock Screen?

I'm in the US on a VZW S3. I know I can change out the wallpaper of the lockscreen, and that I can turn the shortcuts on or off, but it is possible, with the stock launcher, to make other modifications to the lock screen (like - switch out to a different clock widget, or add/remove some shortcuts but not all)?

Launcher and lock screen are different things. Not connected.

You can install replacement lock screen apps like widget locker without having to change the launcher but you're pretty stuck if you don't want to change the lockscreen app either

you dont have to have 4 icons on the lockscreen you can have 1-4 or none, but any thing other than the stock look requires a lockscreen app

does anyone here use a lockscreen app? if theres a JB lockscreen app that would look pretty sleek on the gs3

I use widgetlocker, have 5 actions assigned on the ring lock.
You can add any number of shortcuts, widgets, etc to the lock screen in widgetlocker.

Thanks, everyone, for the replies. Off to the Play store to check out Widget Locker!

(Edit)...Phew! Lots of WidgetLocker fun to be had. My new lockscreen is in place and working great. Love being able to have it clean and uncluttered.

I don't like the original lock screen too, so I was looking something else. Widget locker is a very nice app, thanks for the tip

I use Picture Password to satisfy the minimalist in me. The free version is worthless as it doesn't start on boot, but you can program circle, line and/or dot gestures on a blank slate.

feature?

....I'm getting device wake showing
all the time in battery stats since installing
widget locker I think.any one else see this?

Yes, I have the stock locker disabled through the system settings, then just enabled Picture Password. One secret swipe and I'm to the home screen.

According to BBS, 1m of partial wake in an 11 hour period attributed to WL. 0.2% of all PWL

is there a way to have PP lock screen from a a home screen gesture?

...using a screen off and lock app to trigger lock

generally ok, although there is some fighting with the stock lock screen

...fixed - had set stock lock to swipe rather than off :/

I am considering widgetlocker, I dont mind the original swip anywhere on the screen to unlock, I just dont like the weather app on the lockscreen, or the clock, is there any other way to change them without buying widgetlocker? If theres not, if I bought widget locker will I be able to keep the "swip anywhere on the screen to unlock" and just change the clock and the weather widget?

Hi.
widget locker uses slider controls to unlock.
you can position them where you like
and have more than one etc.
plus you can add any other widget
that you want too

I'm currently using HOLO LOCKER (sort of).......

Been using it for a few months now, dating back to my MOTOROLA PHOTON days & am quite pleased w/it.

However,I recently performed a Factory Data Reset & since then, somehow I don't see the stock lockscreen or, the HOLO LOCKER screen.

I actually like NOT having to go through a lockscreen to open the phone & don't wanna venture into the HOLO LOCKER settings (if that indeed is where the option/quirk is) to possibly disrupt this.

While this is probably not desirable to most, being able to bypass the lockscreen w/o root priviliges is fine w/me, security is not an issue as I always have my phone on me & do not leave it laying around unattended @ work, etc........

Its pocket dialing too for me though.... plus you never know if you will drop it it get pick pocketed
