Root [MOD] CWM touch 6.0.1.1 Install

I don't know exactly what blob is but I say tar. The 5 and maybe even 4. Recovery saved in tar.

Check the OP, I kinda explained what the blob folder does. in the short of it, it backs up like windows backups. makes 1 normal backup and each backup after that it only adds or takes away changes you have made. thus making the backups smaller as you go instead of a fresh one each time.

BUT by doing this you cant easily save your backups to your PC without taking the whole damn blob folder. Blah. F that ish.

BackUP in TAR format. Thats the old way and thats the best way.

Oh, I agree... and all I gotta say is DAAAYYUMMM! Touch is sick, I just got it and it's hella nice... I like it. I'm running a backup right now and it was very user friendly... I was wondering why it wasn't touch from the start.

Make sure you change the backup to save as a tar file and not a dup file or whatever it is by default. tar is the "normal" way of backing up and this new way CWM backs up, which I really dont like, is saved a dup files.

Mines still in mint condition. Thing is a beast. I could throw it at a moving train and knock it off the tracks and the phone wouldnt even be scratched Ahaha

Hey Fuzzy and ShinySide I'm a little late to the party but before i went on a crazy work binge i swore i saw a thread that there was a problem with people bricking their phones with Touch (either 6.0.1.1 or 6.0.0.0 cant remember), did Koush finally respond to one of your emails Fuzzy? ;)... Also are all the kinks worked out now? in other words were good to flash once again Ive already paid for touch and had it, worked fine... Thanks in advance its appreciated

But my girlfriend likes it, so I'll put with a slight inconvenience if it gets me laid a little more.

Haha Fuzzy, That is a great conversation!

A quick question's Sir's... the first time I put 6.0.1.1 (Grey Background) on my Esteem I followed Fuzzy's OP steps, Is there any reason to believe that it wouldn't work correctly again? Maybe a stupid question just making sure... for those people that jump to the end of the thread, here is the OP instruction's (courtesy of Fuzzy)....

-MAKE SURE FIREWALL IS OFF OR SET TO ACCEPT ADB!!!!!!!
-Put phone into USB debug and Internet Connection.
-Extract zip
-Open zip and run the CWM-Installer.
-Follow prompt
-(Choose option 2 for 6.0.0.0. Install)
-Phone will reboot 2-3 times.

Any help's Appreciated Thanks

What do you mean wouldn't work again?

It will work reach time you flash it, either version.

You can flash through rom manager now as well, it's fixed.

Thanks Fuzzy, n what I went was like if I were to flash it the other way than I did before (I used your OP the first time I flashed it), would it still flash successfully...

I guess my point is when we had that conversation about a month ago there was the mix up about which way to flash CWM Touch 6.0.1.1 and not get screwed if you bought it already

I'm about to flash it though ill let you know what happens thanks again

That was a issue caused by the automated publishing from builder. to RommanagerManifest. I fixed that issue awhile back ;) It wasnt causing bricks, it flat out wasnt flashing recovery. ;)

Can I do this through ROM Mgr root browser? Would it still work ok by just changing the "dup" to "tar"?
& I understand what you said about the blobs folder. I leave that alone. So is it ok to delete the regular backup to open up space? Or should I go ahead & keep it also.

Lol ok, I'm a dummy in that dept. How do I change it in recovery?

LOL, uuhhmmm forget that last line lol. I found it. The touch recovery is pretty awesome. A couple of times I wound up getting a msg saying back button disabled. LOL, that really messed things up.

I would check out the Team Win recovery. Much better recovery and is gaining popularity fast. I think it's not even a year old but it's like CWM on steroids. Much more detailed oriented. There's a thread for around here somewhere. Check it out, you might like it. ;)

Just checked it out. Appreciate the info, but I'll stay with cwm touch. Not real big into backing up & flashing everything. I only back up what I have goin when I flash an update, in case the update messes things up

If I remember correct it's somewhere under advanced.. after I get home from work I'll check the test phone.. Got twrp on this one..

Edit: didn't remember correctly :) its under backup and restore, then choose backup format..
