Anyone upgraded to the S3 from the Epic 4G?

I'm currently on an Epic 4G, the husband ordered an S3 for me last week, I'm wondering what differences I can expect, like whether or not the GPS is more accurate, (pleasepleaseplease...) and anything else that may be different or the same.

Oh, and can you scroll through to see a whole wallpaper on the S3, or is it static, like they made the 4G after the Froyo update? (Or was it the Gingerbread one, I can't remember... anyway.) This is of particular interest mostly because I have some really nice wider wallpapers designed for said scrolling, and I would very much like to be able to make use of them again.

Wife & I have had the Epic 4G since its launch. A very good phone and we will miss it. We upgraded to GS3 on black Friday. Wife got the white (in stock) while I'm waiting for black to be delivered.

She absolutely loves the GS3 (was constantly running out of memory on the Epic). She thought she would miss the keyboard but the larger screen really compensates for it.

We haven't tested out the GPS yet, but honestly, it can't be worse than the Epic. I haven't seen or heard of any reported issues so I'm assuming we're past that now.

I had the 'pleasure' of using the EPIC briefly as a loaner phone from BEST BUY before I got the SGS III.

You'll miss the EPIC about as much as you'd miss a toothache. ;)

This phone far exceeds the EPIC in all areas, you won't be disappointed. :D

As someone who's had both, the s3 blows it away in literally every field unless you're going to miss the hardware qwerty

Eh, the slideout's easier for editing on, at least on the Epic, anyway. The onscreen one doesn't like me moving the cursor to different words, and especially refuses to allow placement anywhere but at the end of a word, rather than the beginning or middle, or after punctuation, rather than before. Hopefully the S3's version doesn't do that?

But yeah, other than that, I can't really think of much that I'll miss, except the memories of having a smartphone for the first time.

I dont get the hate for the Epic. I had one before getting my S3, and as far as I'm concerned, it was 2+ years old, running CM10, and actually had a more recent version of Android on it than my S3 the day I bought it. It was still smooth as silk, ran everything quick as I could ask for, and better than the day I bought it.

I never had GPS problems either.

Honestly, I'm holding onto my Epic in case I ever do something stupid to my S3. Its incredibly reliable for a 2.5 year old phone.

I don't get the hate for the Epic.

Well, you had it rooted, that's why you didn't hate it. I did hear all kinds of good things in that regard.

But sadly, I'm not quite tech literate enough to trust my ability not to brick my phone while attempting to root, if I don't have someone who actually knows what they're doing babysitting me while I do it. So I was stuck with the stock setup.
