Post up the things you don't like about the G1

-bettary life!!!
-screen does not dim at night
-no quick launch for gtalk, it's embaded with all the other aim services
-cant send mass sms!!!!
-BATTERY LIFE!!!!!!!!
-no blackberry messanger lol

hellooooo...you CAN send mass SMS. when you start a new message and you're typing out the recipient...select the first person, then you'll see a comma show up after their name/number in the "To" section...and begin to type another contact's name/number and it'll add it...then move to your message area when needed.

Ok, my major pet peeve? We're limited to the archaic 150 character text message! My Nokia E65 took messages that were at least double that and judging from the fact that I'm getting text messages from people that are split in two, I'm guessing their phones do as well!

Small nit pik - Wish it had a digital clock as well as analog.

u can definitely send more.. the count down on the characters is only to let u know ur ushering into a second, or third, or 4 message. ive sent plenty over 150 characters

I know you can send more, but my Nokia didn't break it up into more than one message. I could send at least 300 characters and the phone and the system treated it as one message.

The battery life sucks something aweful. If your running GPS, wifi, and a few apps, your battery will go from 100% to dead in about 2-3hrs. Unless of course your using it then you got about 1-2hrs.

Definitely agree about battery life - it barely makes if from 8 to 6 and I don't use it excessively - but i do like it and show people at work the apps.

Difficult to use as the right side slide mechanism makes it difficult to get you thumb over it. Also, (I read it's coming), it needs on on-screen keyboard for short msgs. Sort of a pain to open it to write "c u there" or whatever.
For syncing it's quite a pain to have to turn the SD Card to USB storage. I don't know that that is fixable with good sync SW as the phone would have t allow the sync sw (I'm using media sync demo copy so far) to control it but not sure.

Other things:
i had to make a new list for contacts to be synced from gmail so not everyone that emailed me once showed up. For iTunes, i had to make a new playlist and select songs which were not apple format which won't play on the G1 - apple making a problem. These are both one time deals but not a lot of fun...

Why is it that every forum has a thread for complaints about the phone.. Why did you buy it? Did you actually research the phone and know what you were buying? The phone is open source so if you don't like something that change it. That was what this phone was all about being able to make the programs you want and enhance the ui and operating system and then share it with the community. I hate how the phone doesn't have a projector so i can slide my icons around on my wall..:)
Why does everyone have to complain and flame all the time can't we just all develop the fixes together.

The lenth of text messages is not just part of the phones domain. They're set by the service because its a freature built into the cell netowork.

Generaly a single text in the US is limited to 160 characters (in japan its upto 3000!). However if your phone+carrier+recipients phone+carrier suport handeling long formated text messages (ie multiple pages of 160 characters) you can send them as a single message.

However, as I understand it, though it looks like one message, it will be processed as more than one in the sense of message allocation. In other words, if you're on the 400 messaging program, and your message is more than 160 characters -- it may not look like more than one message, but it uses up 2 of your 400 messages.

Camera is horrible. While I'm impressed with the fact that it's over 3 MPs, there are zero functions such as zoom. Furthermore, it's slow!

I'm more than ticked at the camera, as well. It has a tricky autofocus thing and if you aren't standing in blinding sunlight, the camera will refuse to take the picture you want. And by the time it does, you have lost your moment. I can forget taking pictures of my pets or kids indoors.

Maybe you should reread the the reason i started this thread instead of complaining. Maybe you worked on the G1 design team, but most of us are regular people that cannot just whip up the coding for any application we dream up.

Most of the phone I really like, there are only a few complaints, most of which are about the operating system not the phone
- I need to be able to install apps to the SD card, i'm already running low on space and it's the first day I've had it
- I want more control over my camera, like a zoom etc (is that the OS or the phone?)
Other then that I don't have complaints, it's a pretty awesome phone!
